reflections

is it possible to have reflections in ET. I know you can create mirrors but im wondering if its possible to make something like a lake with the sky and buildings reflected in it. and if it is possible is it worth doing performance wise.

Yes it’s possible and it’s gorgeous, however it KILLS the maps playability. Framerates get cut in half.

Note: the above screenshots are work of Megaman44. Sorry for imposing, but they are stunning to look at!

lovely screens. i was thinking of making a small map so cutting frame rate in half might not be an issue, do you have any links to some kind of tutorial on how to do this? thanks in advance

There was a map pack published some time ago that included a whole array of goodies that where not part of the standard entities list (entities.def ore something like that). Just did a bit of a search and wacko: http://www.splashdamage.com/index.php?name=pnPHPbb2&file=viewtopic&t=6243

I am begining work on my latest map, so I am trying to develop new techniques. Max requested I post this since he thought it was so 1337

Just a water shader I made which I added a reflection to.

i did not know that that was possible with ET

-NICE-

Willing to share the shader?

Or you can tell us how u go about creating what you have Java.

i thought the other pic of what he made there looked nicer…

portal surface.

That’s basically the same as a mirror just with additional blended passes on top of it. If you search for Q3A mirror tutorials you should find all you need to know, it’s the same in ET.
