Red Eye - having a big red lamp in smoke?

(Ashog) #1

Hi!

Hmm, what the hell? Correct me if I’m wrong but, when you throw smokes as Red Eye and think you are invisible to enemies in smoke, actually you are not because you have this bright like Sirius red lamp shining through the smoke on your head as if to say “hey, i’m smokes, please gief me a bullet to the head!”.

If you make him use smokes to hide, then go all the way for it - no confusing semisolutions.

Part of the issue I feel is due to the fact you can have multiple Redeyes on a single team…

2xRedeye could keep the smoke up indefintly meaning that it would be abuseable in way… This is not helped by the fact that you cannot see anything atall even whilst in the smoke… I feel if this was a Smoke Blanket (kinda like bushes in LoL) and allowed you to see fairly well INSIDE the cloud then I would agree to removing the light… However now… I feel the most SD should do is make the red dot wider and not as obvious to the exact position…

On a side note I would like them to give a “texture” effect to the smoke when using Redeyes vision so you can see when the smoke has gone >.<

It is deliberate to force the RedEye not to camp in his own smoke and use it more as a team strategic element.

e.g. Covering open spaces or objective with smoke then sniping from far.

Is it your or SD’s idea?

I can’t see the point there, if you become an easy target in your own smoke, it doesn’t make sense at all. I’d rather camp and hide than getting fragged every time I use my smoke screen. I back up Ashog’s concerns here.

Isn’t the red eye visible only when you use IR vision?
That’s what I always believed.

If yes it’s a perfectly good way to balance you having the upper hand in your smoke, you get the first second of activation to aim whoever is in/beyond it.
Being able to see through it and just pop everyone all the time without them having a clue where it came from would just be broken.

pff, in this case I won’t even bother with RedEye. No point.

Other than the fact that he’s a ton of fun to play with that M14 :)!

(Bangtastic) #9

I think its a pretty fair trade off. Do you even played the game since the last 2 patches ? Its like opening a thread about kira and her orbital laser xD

yes he is only visible when you IR on!

No, it’s not.

The red light will be toned down quite a bit but wont be removed entirely.

Ja! Half-measures can make everyone happy and compromise uncompromisable approaches!

Redeye is super good. I’m glad that his eye shines through because the killing power on him is ridonkeykong. Like people said it doesn’t even show up unless your sitting in the smoke itself, which is never actually necessary. On a side note, I strongly suggest removing the insta-gib with headshots on him.
