Switch to the dreiss or the pdp and you’ll be set ok.[/quote]
but they are so boring
Spam his abilities, even if you don’t kill people, you’ll get a lot of support XP for spotting the enemies for your teammates.
Also, use the Dreiss or PDP and play defensively.
the PDP-70 is a beast on RedEye. Learn to track your enemies and it will be a good companion. I personally use the P52 for RedEye due to the Drilled Augment and because I love the Deagle. Grandeur is… alright, very hard to use but can be rewarding. It just requires a lot of time and focus to make it decent; even then it’s just not as viable in comparison to other guns. (Don’t let it hinder you though; If you’re comfortable with the Grandeur, you’ll do fine! ^^)
Learning the synergy between the smoke and the IR-goggles is important, so make sure you pop the smoke in right time for the IR-goggles to get the full benefit. If you are bold (and stupid like me) you can roam around and pick off targets with the IR-goggles and Grandeur. I’ve tried this myself but I’m not as good with the Grandeur than I am with the PDP, but it might work for you!
When it comes to smoking, know the difference between defensive and offensive smoking:
Generally speaking you want to block the view for enemies so smoke open areas to let your teammates pass through. Defensively, smoke yourself near cover so that the enemy can’t get to you (ex; smoke near a car so that you get cover both by the smoke and the car and play peekaboo!) and pick them out from there. Smoking tight areas and routes is also a viable strategy to scare enemies away from taking said route, if you ask me. This is atleast how I use smoke and it’s probably going to differ from player to player.
There’s a video somewhere that covers good use of smoke on one map, do some research and you’re set!
I’m better with the Grandeur than with the other two rifles. Some of my tips are slightly loadout heavy because I use the G41 Adept Sniper. It’s a melee oriented loadout but it’s great because Red Eye doesn’t have machine pistols to back him up in CQC.
Do not throw smoke in between allies and enemies. Try to skirt to a place where you can fire from a different direction (i.e. your friends are shooting from the front, shoot from the side). Generally find cover and use your smoke to accentuate the cover. Also use it to cover (in both senses) an engineer working on the objective.
When stuck in close quarters, throw a smoke in between you and your attacker/next victim. It would confuse him/her allowing you to rush in and knife them to death (hence why I use the G41).
I love Redeye, and I’ve always been big on smoke grenades and spotting in every game I’ve played.
- Get ready to constantly toggle the IR throughout the entire match. Never let this go to waste. Toggling this all the time, while moving and shooting can become a real skill
It can take a second or two to initially spot targets. It doesn’t seem to be a consistent interval.
Targets need to be at least 50% visible in my experience. It won’t spot just heads.
If you know you’re going to die (outnumbered, etc), switch on the IR and get a few dying spots in.
Practice up close battles with the IR on, and practice head shots, the idea being to not have to switch off the IR whenever you’re dueling it out.
- Always try to smoke Objectives when appropriate, for example, when attacking, smoke the EV for repairs, smoke Obj’s to help C4 planters and package deliverers.
When defending, smoke defusing operations. Also smoke deep, right in front of enemies so your team can move up, or just to block their aim. Always use the IR after you smoke so your team isn’t blinded by it and can take full advantage of it.
Also smoke defensive objectives when you are outnumbered and need a better chance to kill the delivery guy up close in the confusion. One example is on Dome, when you have 2 or more guys in the pit delivering the cores, you can smoke it, and kill the delivery guy with minimal risk.
Toss smoke for maximum effect, e.g., smoke to block 5 enemies rather than just one. If you have one guy who is a real pest, like a sniper, you can smoke him if you need to. It’s whatever you think will help the most.
Personally, I never put down smoke just for myself in general combat. I always save it for more important stuff, but I also use it frequently. Once it charges up, I find a way to use it. The exception of course, is, if you’re waiting for a teammate to catch up and get in place. I will also drop smoke for myself if I’m delivering, planting, defusing, etc.
As for the primary weapon choice, this is really just preference. Personally, I always make my selection based on augments first, and then just deal with whatever gun I get. I really like the Grandeur, although I need a lot more practice with it. It reminds me of my Day of Defeat days.
I always use the dreiss, but mainly because I love arty and am already used to it. As already stated, using smoke to cover objectives is always a good idea. Sniper nests and groups of people locking you down work too.
Giving yourself cover is t always as useful as you’d think, and refers place is defiantly near the front lines. And always use IR, they will give you so many points.
While smoke can be useful, its the IR goggles that have the most impact. Hence his name.
Smoke is easily misused. Dont annoy your team mates.
