RECRUITING for 5C -- The Suboptimal ET mod

Hi all,

This is a formall call for help on the mod i’m working on. It’s called ‘5c – the suboptimal mod’ and i want it to be a total conversion – sort of.

The story is set in 2003, in a scenario of international panic, just before the beginning of ww3. After the sept.11 attacks on NY, global war against terrorism has lead to a situation of ‘global warmup’ bla bla bla (story not written yet).

The general idea is to add some new weapons (not hi.tech stuff tho – that’s boring), some new player skins and some new maps. Gameplay should remain similar, though a bit more realistic than vanilla ET.

So, i’m looking for skinners, modellers, mappers, story writers, dope dealers, code gurus and even spiritual masters for help with this. If you want to have some fun, and can contribute stuff, pm me or post in this thread and i’ll get to you.

i read this and realised that it will have et gameplay but slower and new maps
whats the point of remaking et for the 21st century, but no high tech stuffand seeing as u would add 21st century weapons im guessing this mod is like cs, but better graphics?
u have heard of urban terror havent u?

ill help out for sure if u have anything better than that (atleast a new gameplay mode like dm or like a mode where each side has equal bases)

I sure as hell don’t want deathmatch. I find it really stupid. I never really liked quake: i liked et because there is no deathmatch. panzerfaust is a minor pain.

i looked into urban terror but wasnt really impressed… and i dont want to make a 350mb mod anyway.

And about hitech weapons, well my idea is to create maps that depict fucked up areas of the global conflict, ie poor / devastated areas, and most weapons will be former USSR models (AK-series etc) or weapons in widespread use during the 70s and 80s. So it won’t be really futuristic…

i also dislike panzers, but to me deathmatch was always just plain fun, ofcourse that was quake and the only thing realistic is the jumping
and since ur wanting to make a realistic mod it wouldnt make too much sense… yeh

have you played americas army, how it had thermite grenades? well as soon as i get the client side fire appearing this would be a good addition to a realism mod as they are used by many forces around the world (sof2 had em aswell, the red nades )
the thermite nades work currently, but no actually fire is rendered yet

what current task do u need help with?

Well, right now it’d be nice to:

-Start adding some weapon models. I have changed damage, rate of fire, accuracy etc of the guns to match the new ones but i’m still using the ET models and skins. I also have total lack of knowledge about the animation / model construction engine.

-Player skins

-Review code, of course.

the weapon of choice in poor/devastated areas seems to be RPGs. witness all the panzernoobs in iraq for example.

yea gonzoboi, that’s what i’m waiting for, a multiplayer game in year 2003!

futuristic weapons … not really, but i think some “modern” weapons could be included, weapons that really exists e.g. the H&K MP7 and … maybe also weapons taken out of CS.

i might take part in your team … dunno atm, let’s see during next week.
