Recording a demo - option

(Humate) #21

I forgot the command but I tried recording a demo a while back.
It auto created a demo folder, with the demo file inside - but when I went to play it, it crashed :frowning:

But you have seen the demo of a wallhacker before?

Demos are the only way to prevent Stuff like Wallhacking on a competetive level, since anti-cheat-programs are not 100% safe.
But on a Demo, you will see their preaim&prefire everytime.

1rst person spec is the best way to bust cheaters, but I’m more and more interested to get some news about the anti-cheat of Fireteam.
we still don’t have any news about it.

Is the ability to turn on wallhack a demo playback feature in CS:S?

If so this is fantastic, would love if we could get this for DB demos.

It was harder to judge ETQW demos for instance due to faster pace and less camping-oriented gameplay. Hence it was always a question whether the opinion is subjective in less obvious cases. But let’s see.

I don’t understand, no demo that I know of will render a cheat interface in it, all you get is a possible indication of a cheat from the player’s actions and server demos have first person view for each player on the server anyway.

True, yeah, actually even client demos will not reveal anything obvious, what was I…

Though forced PB screenshots could be taken to bust haxors, but this has nothing to do with demos.

Pb is bypassed by the cheats so you can’t find nothing on screenshots … Find some really obvious cheater on our BF3 server, take some screen and nothing … just bypassed … and that was some real cheater (PB ban + GGC black listed at least but it take some time)

Pretty sure people could open a demo and use a console command to render players through walls (obviously doesn’t work in real games) to make it easier to tell if they were wall hacking or not. Might be wrong on this, though.

I really hope we see Q3/RTCW style demos, I think it’s a must have.

(BomBaKlaK) #30

Any news about it ?

(Ashog) #31

No, apart from that it’s coming later:

Already lot of cheats on UE3 apparently so I’m really curious about this, and how it can be better than the bypassed punkbuster. ( I like hyppiebuster as name is you need one  )

Think it’s called Skeleton mode although my memory is a bit fuzzy; we used it back in ETQW to check for wall hackers and such.

Skeleton ? Try wireframe ^^
