Reconsider Female Characters!
Boycotting Brink because there are no female models?
NO WAY!! =D

If that is ones choice I understand. I can go along with many points
that Profane has made and respect her point of view.
But I will buy this game the day of release, no doubt.

No female models, Yes, it irks me.
It irked me before ETQW’s release too …but once the game is
installed and I fire it up I forget all about it to be honest.
After all, gameplay and fun is priority nr.1, at least to me.

Still I think SD is missing the opportunity to attract more female gamers
because costumization is usually a chickmagnet
It is one of those correlation things or something.

Is it because not enough female gamers care about this game to even let Splash Damage make female avatars? Or that there isn’t female avatars that female gamers don’t even care about this game? Well at least boycotting the game will tell Splash Damage that “OK, we aren’t having any female gamers, we’ll stick with male avatars on all our games”.

And boycotting usually doesn’t work. You know what happened to the boycotters who were trying to boycott Wolfenstein for not looking like RTCW and MW2 for doing something stupid with the PC version? They bought the game anyway.

I assure you, when someone who wants to boycott this game sees how great the gameplay is, they’d go back to it. It is just impossible to boycott a good game in concept.

words

sheesh

Aren’t people exerting an awful lot of energy into justifying why there are no female models in the game and attacking people for asking for them. Especially when SD has stated at least twice that they’d have loved to do it but it just wasn’t practical in the development path of the game.

Perhaps come at this from a different angle and ask SD if there will be the capability to mod in custom models and sounds. Or if (which I think wasn’t dismissed as a possibility) DLC updates would include them.

(Albatrossy) #204

I am sure you could rearrange it so your character looks like some kind pseudo-female by turning your character model into a virtual Drag Queen. Just buy some feminine looking clothing. Haha, I can only imagine a heavy-set body builder in a tutu.

(tokamak) #205

With Rahdo being lead designer there’s a good chance of that.

(signofzeta) #206

remember billy and sid from final fight? And considering how some of the brink characters look like them, and coupled with where billy and sid from final fight came from, yeah, I’d say there is a good chance for that.

(tokamak) #207

Oh haha yeah, worst boss fight EVER.

(Slade05) #208

On the second thought, I`m all hands for some delicious traps.
Imagine campwhoring all that XP for the new lipstick and fabulous stockings.

There is an entirely new level for player-to-player MP hate right there, SD, don`t miss that!

Be good way to lure the enemy of the street for interrogation, pick light body type, don on some high heals and slap on bit of lippy and then blackmail them for info for wanting some action from a shim.

(Floris) #211

Yes, but how many of them still play? Wolfenstein’s gameserver browser recently showed an all time low of 0 players online, while MW2 has much, much less competitive teams active in it than CoD4:MW has, according to ClanBase ladder activity. Both games probably lost a lot of sales due to the boycott.

Also, Wolfenstein is the only id game which I never bought, and I think there are plenty of other previously interested-in-it people who skipped it.

(DarkangelUK) #212

It doesn’t matter if they still play, they bought the game and that was enough to make the boycott look like a joke.

Another great example of sticking by your guns…

But will they buy the next one?

Just realized I own all CoD PC titles except for MW2, I guess I’m just really good at this boycott thing

Well I guess that means it’ll take till the game after the next to fix the mistakes they did, cos as far as they see it, people bought the game cos they wanted to. If they stuck by their guns and didn’t buy this one, then they’d immediately get the hint and start bucking their ideas up for the next release.

I just realised I haven’t bought a CoD since the 1st one… except MW2  Was for the 360, so either way I would’ve got a console version

(nukits) #215

Well i think there is nothing wrong about female characters.
But i think female characters doesent fit vry much with war games or such things.
Thats just my opinion
absolutely, women are genetically lower in strenth and speed, pelvic muscle structure is different, chest capacity (lung size) is limited, people say they want female models to more accurately represent half the population but won’t accept the consequences. While a small body type trades strength for speed, the equivalent female small would be 20% slower and carry 20% less equipment and have 20% less “hit points”

sounds more to me like you just want your character to have tits

one idea I’d go for is have a voice choice for the Security with the full face helmet, instant gender change and SD is already doing multiple vocalizations
Go tell that to the female athletes or swimmer… It will be in the future with well trained warrior, female can be as strong as men who know? I personally dont want to be slapped by one of the Serena sister

(Nail) #217

I don’t have to tell them, they know. That’s why women don’t compete against men
example, World Track records,

Men:

100 Metres 9.58
200 Metres 19.19
400 Metres 43.18
800 Metres 1:41.11
1000 Metres 2:11.96
1500 Metres 3:26.00
One Mile 3:43.13
2000 Metres 4:44.79
3000 Metres 7:20.67
5000 Metres 12:37.35

Women:

100 Metres 10.49
200 Metres 21.34
400 Metres 47.60
800 Metres 1:53.28
1000 Metres 2:28.98
1500 Metres 3:50.46
One Mile 4:12.56
2000 Metres 5:25.36
3000 Metres 8:06.11
5000 Metres 14:11.15

it’s the same with swimming

(tokamak) #218

Pff minor differences, shouldn’t play a part in the game if they were ever added.

(Nail) #219

I wouldn’t call them minor, about the difference between classes I’d say

(signofzeta) #220

If not female character models, I demand the already made male avatars to wear women’s clothing.
