Recoil and Bounce

I made two very short videos about Recoil on arty or just recoil in general and the bounce of air strikes and I am amusing nades do the same thing.

I put in HD…
I doint think I need to point out times but as you can see there is a very distinctive screen shake/map wobble…
It also resets at a random time… Its very odd and makes you sea sick…

The recoil while scoped seemed to be a straight back and forth recoil which seems fine…

The screen wobble should be looked at…

Video two I drop a air strike and it bounces two feet forward… Big deal right… Well it sort of is… I waned to place it right behind the box so the spawning enemy would not see it however the strike out make it into the street…

This bounce also seems to happen with the nades from Fragger… The strike and nade play should be fixed… I am not saying they should be like ET but ET had epic nade kills and even BF nade handle better.

Side Note: Can you turn off ejecting brass?

I was getting massive FPS lag tonight…

When it comes to recoil
I believe that each weapon has around 4-6 recoil effects that play randomly each shot.
That is why you notice the wobble. I think this is the same in Iron-sights but much less pronounced.

When it comes to Artys airstrike, Proxys mines, Fletchers mines, Vasselis motion mine, Fraggers nade, Ammo packs, Health packs and Thunders concusion nade. I believe having the ability button pulling out the ability (holding it) and then having you left or right click the mouse would give more options. I would have left click as a throw and right click as a drop at feet.

Also messing around in the game right now and just running around the map in the videos above I get around 255 fps steady… While 1 person on the other team was warming up shooting at my team make I would drop to 198… Every single time…

Thats almost a 60 fps swing when someone is firing… Crazy!!!

interesting stuff about the wobble and I think it should be fine tuned somemore… My video is a little ridiculous…

Also the comment about dropping I can not get it to work for me… My right click is jump and even if I prime it I cant get it to drop at my feet.

no the drop feature is just an idea not something that is in the game already :slight_smile:

That random kick / wobble is insane

Yes it is, it’s been bugged for a while that one of the camera-anims on this particular gun needs toning down.

I don’t understand why recoil and wobble needs to be so high across the board, I find Stoker’s pretty excessive, it makes aiming consistently too random and you can’t build up the muscle memory.

I agree, Stoker is frustratingly hard to use at times and then cake to use…

Right now the game lacks muscle memory for players…

Muscle Memory:
Firing weapons

  • Controlling Spread, knowing spread, tapping for spread control, crouching for spread control… All seems off and could be the camera…
    Switching abilities
    Long Jump
    Double wall Jump
    Throwing nades (and also timing)
    Setting down ammo station or throwing medic packs.
    Trying to switch back to primary weapon… (Seems slow and sometimes switch back or something)

The mouse input lag and inbattle FPS loss doesnt help things either…
Losing 60 FPS as soon as your start a battle with an enemy is crazy!

Is it just me or does the scale of the player really drop off at mid to long range?
I am using 70 FOV just to see people and at mid range they look like like dots…

  • Combine this this the heavy recoil and its hard to down them

Example and when the game will feel right:
If you come around the corner and someone is sitting on the MG Turret you have first shot you should be able to flat out down them…
I tryed many many times to come around the corner crouch and ET words 3 Dink them because my recoil throws me off or I get 5 hs and the fall off damage doesnt kill them… That ROF and my crouch I should be putting enough to kill that MG.

I don’t play consistently enough to have any ounce of muscle memory (other than working at a similar sens that I play at), and I haven’t had any issues compensating for the recoil/kick on any gun so far :o Surprisingly I get higher accuracy on Stoker than Skyhammer this patch too.

I also get higher acc on stoker… Sitting at 43% right now but still feels weird…

I know I know, RLRL is messed up but when crouched or on the way down to fully crouched I can notice a difference…

I think smooth talked about this before that you need to be fully crouched before the spread/recoil benefits kick in?

I think that is what I am feeling that the time it takes to crouch is longer now because they didnt want spam crouchers and I can notice that.

Stoker is more accurate than Skyhammer due to the random deviation.
Stoker has higher Recoil but if you master it you should be hitting higher percentages.

Was arty’s Camera recoil fixed this patch?

Or the bounce or Artillery or Grenades?

I have not yet played arty (lvl too low) but on other guns I did not notice something like that… sucks lol!!
