Reason to win?

[quote=“K1X455;92279”]I used to play for winning but now, win or lose, if the the game gets clutched with both teams trying their best to paly objective, I win. That’s just how I feel about it. I WIN… no matter the outcome. Sadly, most games I play are pretty lop sided and the the match becomes predictable 5 minutes into the game, so most of the time, it’s a loss for me. But then, sometimes, I’m wrong.

This is why I am playing less and less. I would happily lose every match I played in, if both teams were evenly matched and both were trying to win the match. Matches like that are incredibly satisfying no matter the result.

Instead I rarely get such a match, as most matches are imbalanced and consist of players that are little more than drooling button mashers who have no concept of teamwork and no desire to win the match. They just run around randomly, ignoring the objectives, looking for people to shoot.

In fact, this game reminds me so much of the experience I had playing Loadout. You jump into a match, get backfilled onto a team of muppets that aren’t interested in teamwork or the objectives, the match ends, everyone leaves the lobby (as it takes so long for the next match to start), which results in getting backfilled into yet another team of muppets, and the cycle repeats. I think I played only 5-6 matches that were actually fun (and those were consecutive, as everyone stuck around for a rematch as everyone was playing to win, and were evenly matched, that we were actually enjoying ourselves). The rest of the time it was an awful game to play, given the bugs, the long delays between matches starting, and the really bad F2P playerbase.

@immenseWalnut a party system is in place but the matchmaking process is in need of work. Party of 4 vs Party of 5 can go, and the rest can be taken up by muppets on a 7vs7 or 8vs8 match. Sooner or later, the muppets will gain conciousness in gameplay (I hope) and be more objective in their game play. When the gameplay is now suitably participated by organized players, the game changes its course, but such feature is yet to come in the game so stay tuned.

I wouldn’t hold your breath on the muppets improving. I had a match a while back where I got 10 x Mid Airs because a guy playing Proxxy kept bunny hopping straight towards our team, making himself a very easy target. Despite wrecking him all match, it never one occurred to him to change tactics.

The problem is that this game has a higher skill floor than the average shooter, but it is F2P, so the bulk of the player base are more than likely kids that rely on F2P games because they can’t buy their own (the appalling skill level of many of the players is the reason I think many of them are 8 year olds).

I think this games days are numbered, as we are coming up to Xmas, and many of those kids will have games at the top of their Xmas lists. Everyone keeps mentioning Overwatch as being a threat to DB, but personally I think a huge portion of the playerbase will vanish overnight once Star Wars Battlefront comes out (if not on release date then certainly on Xmas day). And if that happens, I imagine further development on DB will be cancelled as the income wont be enough to cover the costs.

This huge update we are being promised is going to have to be something pretty special to keep DB alive into the new year.

I don’t think that’s how everyone feels about this game. I certainly don’t. Sure, Christmas is usually not the best thing for f2p games, but I don’t think this game has so many 8 year olds. Most of the people I have talked to seemed to be adults.
It seems quite obvious that you are not enjoying this game as you used to. Just take a break, play something else for a while and come back to dirty bomb when you feel like it. Really, continuing to play, because you “used to have fun” will just ruin your experience to a point, where you will just delete the game and never come back.
