Really gettin tired of people bashing this game

just voicing my opinion, if you agree please feel free to comment, if you one are of those hardcore COD fanboys mentioned below, please go away.

after keeping up with the game for almost a year i bought the game last night and played it for a few hours both online and offline and i absolutely LOVE this game. this morning i decided to look up some reviews for Brink to see what other people thought about it. the general consensus was that the game was a mediocre attempt at a team based FPS with an average score of 6/10. i believe this to be wrong and think it got bad reviews because it isnt like COD or any of the super-popular big name shooters. the one review that i found that actually did the game justice was the machinima video review which gave the game a well deserved 8/10. the review praises the game for taking a different approach to team-based FPS games and the FANTASTIC S.M.A.R.T. movement mechanic while admiting that there are some issues.
i hate that people expect games to be absolutely perfect and flawless. YES, the game does have some issues with texturing and lag when playing online and the AI is a bit stupid, but none of them are so bad that it ruins the fun of the game

to be honest i think that most of the people that dont this game are the hardcore COD fanboys that think Black Ops is the prodigal son of FPS gamesand want to deny the existance of anything that might threaten it.

in my opinion the game is much better than COD. so the story isnt that great, did you really buy the game for the story? or did you buy it because you want to run around the map like a goddamn monkey with a shotgun? (which you cant do in other FPS games because you are a camera on rails that cant jump over anything higher than your waist.)

it’s been proven that the guy who did the joystiq review played the game for less than an hour.

as for the IGN review, it’s just absolutely pathetic. brink loses points for the same things that got cod points.

I don’t agree, but I’m not a hardcore COD fanboy. Can I comment, or do I have to go away?
For the record, my preferred games are Gears AI, Reach Firefight, Black Ops Combat Training (seeing a trend here?). I’ll occasionally play online, but I prefer a fairly non-frustrating (and non-cursing) bout with AI.

That’s certainly your opinion - but not everyone’s. I did overall enjoy what I played of Brink last night - but that’s not going to keep me from voicing my disappointment in some areas of the game.

At least you are being honest - saying that’s what you think. It’s probably not actually the case in reality - but you are certainly open to your opinion.

I’d personally rate the game a 7ish right now. But I’m going to give it its due and play out the campaign.

Language! Actually I bought the game because the devs were crowing a year ago about how awesome the AI was going to be (link), which turned out to be almost a total bust. See link or below:

Wait, you consider Combat Training’s bots good? I don’t know about Gears or Reach. I played Gears, but it was a while ago, and I never cared to play Halo back when I was on 360.

But Combat Training? The bots that have perfect aimbot and can see through walls even on the easiest setting AREN’T frustrating?

I’m not having the same experience as you. I only notice “aimbot”-like behavior when they’re on Hardened or Veteran. When they’re on Normal I can get the drop on them about 60% of the time. On easy, you have WAY too much time to draw a bead on the AI. Normal is a really nice non-frustrating sweetspot.

I will admit I am tired of it too, but ign review really didn’t bash it like 1up did. We all know that this game is great and we also know that it needs some updating. If I could throw a idea to the developers I would bring more challenges to the game because it was fun, more importantly to more challenges where everyone can play then and if passed everyone can get the rewards when completed.

The game could use more shotguns and more customizing additions. Every class should have the ability to use every gun or a custom gun fit for their class, for example a light shotgun for the lights.

I would recommend the ability to swap out characters just like your able to swap out classes and weapons. Make the heavy actually feel like a heavy.

Remove the whole I have to wait here for ten mins ordeal. And above all guys it doesn’t have to be overly objective.

Just some ideas from a fanboy, I expect great things to come from this game. Free DLC and UPATES(hint hint)

Give me 50 more parkour challenges and I’ll be set.
