Really frustraited with Loadout card system :(

(Bitey) #1

I really would like a method to enable a way to choose which card can be created while crafting. This random system is exceptionally frustrating because of the time it takes when you only desire one exact type of card or gun.

I understand that it’s a system to enable players to keep playing for that one random drop they’ve been looking for but it’s extremely aggravating after 3-4 attempts to not obtain that one particular card you’re looking for. I’d even be willing to truely buy mercs with currency if it just gave me the loadout cards that come with it, as it happens right now it’s a really aggravating system that makes me quite upset every time I need to utilize it.

It’d also be different if all loadouts where things that suited my playstyle but that simply isn’t the case. When you look to min-max for roles or jobs on the battlefield the system leads to alot of frustration and feels like a waste of time to only “Maybe” get the card you want.

I ended up doing this while I’m streaming mostly because I got so frustrated that I only wanted to try out the card I was looking for and not the other “garbage” I was recieving. I think it’s also tangiable to realize that others share this same view:
[03:24.41] <preshr> made at least 15 bronze auras but havent got the one i want. out of 6 possibilities

Please give a way to craft the particular card you want for an additional cost or other system so that I don’t have to feel like I’m wasting my time :frowning:

Sorry for the rant but I got really upset by this system

I traded up to 12 silver sawbonez from lead, and didn’t receive the card i want then i traded them into 3 golds and got a duplicate and not the card i wanted either, its very fustrating for players who have played for awhile, its to the point where its like why bother even buying mercs if your unable to play with the cards you want unless you play for like 20hours just gaining credits. Its a huge turn off and needs to be changed… Please add in a recycle system at the very least where cards unwated and be traded down but dont give u back to money fee to trade up.

I also think we should have the option of picking a specific loadout. Fishing for a specific setup you want can be extremely frustrating, as you basically feel cheated by the game when exchanging 3 bronzes, to get silver with the exact same loadout as one of the bronze (or 4 silvers for exact same gold).

If RNG is the way to go, can we at least have ‘trade up’ only up to Bronze, and from that point onwards you can only upgrade the rarity of the card by burning some other cards; + a recycle system on crap you don’t want : )

Isn’t it the whole point of the deck system that it gives incentive to keep you playing and trying out different stuff?

I think that if the system would hand out specific cards, then the instant-gratification would be pleased, but the long-term motivation and curiosity would suffer.

And it’s not that playing other cards makes it harder to play well.

I would wonder, though, if tournaments should allow picking specific cards?

EDIT: changed post wording.

Except that the card system is in a limbo state, where 2 out of say 7-8 loadouts are good picks, and rest is crap. Besides, the RNG or ‘grind’ can still remain for cosmetics, while people already found the loadout they want…

(Amerika) #7

I don’t mind the current system because most of the best loadouts are all Bronze. However, there are exceptions. The best Timmik loadout for Skyhammer is Silver and up, one of the best support loadouts for Sawbonez is Silver and up and if you want the best M4 loadout for Fragger it’s Gold only.

It would be nice if all of the augment/primary/secondary loadouts were all Bronze with Silver and Gold only changing the melee weapon and cosmetics. Of course I’d like to see the whole system changed entirely but that’s a different topic entirely.

(Ceres) #8

Got to 6 Silver Fraggers, then a Gold Fragger and I still don’t have the card I want. **** sucks.

(LiNkzr) #9

I agree, I did 6 trade ups and ended up with the same bronze cards 6 TIMES!!!

you just get million duplicates in your stash and you can’t do anything smart with them.

Maybe add option to “merge” 2 same cards like for example 2 bronze cards with same perks and weapons to 1 different bronze card?

Idk, now it just frustrating.

gems… we need gems

or gold coins

sparkly tokens of some sort to buy your specific cards will solve all these dramas… that way everyone will be united in exactly why they hate the system.

I agree with PinkFrog. The system is designed to make the game viable on the long term. But i would like the Mercs to have more augment and weapon diversity. A system with more augments, maybe more powerful ones but counterbalanced with drawbacks.

(AssortedStuff) #12

I like the sound of that, counterbalance. A game by the name of Nosgoth does that. It gives you the possibility to get weapons (by RNG) that will bring you better stats in one area but with worst stats in another area.

I’m gonna try this game

Traded up to gold and got the exact card I wanted 2nd attempt, was great

Yup, they’ve pretty much doubled the credit-increase rate, with perpetually regenerating missions, and offered people the option to skip the RNG: huge step in P2W direction!

How is it not P2W?

15$ gives you 20% reduced reload times, higher mobility, more damage, take less damage, have superior weaponry. Am I missing something?

i dont really know what you are referring to specifically, feel free to elaborate.

In any case, how are any of this issues changed since the new loadout card design? Cause the only new things in loadouts I see are new skins, and cobalt cards, which again is just more skins n weapons.

(Destroy666) #19

In a bad way though. I’d rather see many easy-to-get loadouts/achievements/items/augments/whatever rather than few hard-to-get ones. Limiting access to good items by luck is rather more demotivating than “interesting” for players.

Luckily today’s patch made earning credits much easier, so getting loadouts you need/want will also be much easier.

I’ve been saying this for a while now, the Hearthstone system of crafting would be perfect. E.g. let us recycle four gold cards for enough dust/gems/whatever to craft the specific gold card we want. That should hardly be a major upset to the economy, but still make people far less furious about rotten luck.

Also the trade up system shouldn’t cost credits IMO. If anything I would prefer that it takes more cards for a trade, so doing a trade up with only duplicates feels more satisfying. It could also be replaced completely by the crafting system.
