Really bad optimization or will it get fixed?

So I have an AMD (aka ATI) Radeon 4870, and it runs great on Portal 2 and Team Fortress 2 on the highest quality settings (could also use various configs to increase the graphics of TF2) and I’ve always had a minimum of 60 fps, but with this game, it’s unplayable, even with the AMD hotfix, the lowest settings and a config to make my eyes burn every time I play…

The fps varies from 10-30 and that is not enough for me to enjoy this game, and I cannot believe that I get that low fps when I otherwise run very good looking games at high/max (I could also run Crysis on high).

So is this a major bug, will it get fixed? Or is it going to stay this way? Do I seriously have to buy another GPU just to make this game even playable.

I don’t mind ****ty graphics, but I want to play this game, it looks awesome from what I’ve played (played it one a friends game for about an hour or so) and the WTF video from TotalBiscuit, and I can’t stress how much of a let down it was when I couldn’t even play it.

Its a known issue with ati cards. i own a 5870 wich is much faster than yours but it still doesnt run smooth enough to enjoy. There is a Catalyst hotfix by ati. That one made it worse for me. What really made the game twice as fast (still not as good as i wish) is going back to catalyst 11.2. Can find the older ones somewhere on the amd site. Hope that helps until the game gets a major update

I’ve done that, but I still have to play with uncomfortable graphics, and I’d rather play other games than this if I have to play this with sore eyes.

If only we could get an ETA instead of them ignoring the thousand of FPS complaints.
