RCON tool supporting kick player

(Bdamage) #1

Recently added BRINK support for Game Scanner.

Also including a simple RCON tool and you can kick/ban players from the player list (need a few more server admins to test this out). :stroggbanana:

i tested the kick function and I’m not sure it actually kicks the right person.

The problem at the moment is that there seems to be no way to determine what slot a player is in on the server unless you are on the server and enter the admin kick TAB command.

I did a test of this tool on our server. I was in slot 10 according to the GS app but in slot 6 according to the admin kick TAB command. When I kicked myself it actually kicked the player in slot 9 of the server… when i refreshed the GS app i was in position 9 but i was still in slot 6 on the server…

so my conclusion is that this is not working or i am doing something wrong :o

What?
Use the “Player” Tab.
What?
Use the “Player” Tab.
yes thats what i did. select the player in that tab and right click and kick. and it acted as i described above. i just retested it and and did the same; did not kick me it kicked another player…

Maybe the testing people have done is only with 1 player on the server. This of course will work as the slot in game and in GS app will probably align. I just tested that too and yes its kicks me if im the only one on.

The upshot is if the player numbering in GS is coming from the a2s player source query command then that has been proven to not provide the correct client numbering on the server. Its just a list of players in a random or maybe longest connected order.

hoping to be proven wrong here as I really want this to work

Thanks for testing.

This means kick by index is not the right way of doing this.

Then there is not much I can do with Game Scanner until SD folks make changes into Brink.

@SD developers
It would be great if Brink could provide the players slot number in the A2S protocol instead of filling with zeros.
