Raw input?

(PixelTwitch) #1

Just like most Unreal Engine games I am struggling with the mouse input.

First problem is that there seems to be a bit of a delay on the movement (none Vsync)
Second problem is that variations in frame rate seem to cause a slight variation in mouse speed.

I have yet to ever find an unreal engine game with decent mouse input…
PLEASE tell me that XT is going to break this tradition >.<

Thanks

Extraction use raw mouse input by default AFAIK.

if that is the case then cool!

However that still means there is a issue somewhere that is resulting in this floaty feeling mouse…
possible issues with consistent frame timings or something.

On the two occasions this was confirmed in the past it was said to be raw input, but whether this is just unreal’s version of raw or an aftermarket custom coded by Dann with an exact one-one mapping and zero latency version of raw I do not know.

But it would be nice if the floaty/laggy/unsmooth issue could be investigated further again.

Regardless of what has or has not been confirmed in the past…
There is no denying that the mouse movement feels just as awful as all other unreal engine 3 games.
The rare exception is when you are around the 250 - 300 fps mark it starts to feel better but no way its not got smoothing or something on there because doing the flick tests my mouse never lands in the same place when moving at different speeds.

IF this is not a mouse input issue then they should look at frame timings and how often the game recieves the mouse input / calculates. if its only calculating it per frame and the frames are all over the place latency wise that COULD explain why it feels inconsistant in some circumstances but it still does not explain the 1:1 ratio on 800dpi optical mice that have no issue on Source, Quake, IW and ID engines… (bar titanfall that has some of the worst mouse movement of the modern age!)

Just wanted to clarify that I wasn’t having a dig at you for asking something for the n-th time, but just passing on what info’s we’ve been given on the subject previously.

I upgraded my graphics card to a GTX770 and this problem has been greatly reduced.

With my old card I had 40-80FPS… Now I have a constant 120+

sorry did not mean it to sound like that… I know you was not and I am sorry for sounding aggressive >.< I just mean “it does not matter what they say it has when we can still feel something wrong”
