Ranking system

(Remedica) #1

Can somebody give me a plain explanation how the ranking works?
When I started playing competitive I lost maybe 2 games and got rank gold 5, after that I have lost maybe 1 match and win all the others and I’ve played tons, but still I’m only at Gold 2 atm, and I’ve been it for a loooong time.
So how does the ranking work? How many times you need to win to rank up?
I’ve also won teams full of Cobalts and Gold 1’s many times if they matter?

tl;dr: How/when you rank up?

You don’t play com cause it’s shit.
It is that simple.

@steelMailbox Please tell me, why you think it’s shit?

Because I get beat and when I lose don’t have any fun, even though I could always do more.

Because:

  • You have to wait more than 5 minutes to get into a match (atleast in EU)
  • A GG is rare in comp
  • Basically SW in a 5v5 format
  • Hackers tend to visit that gamemode more than pubs
  • Just needs a fix

MM ranks take forever to gain right now. You’ll be at it for weeks to get anything high, especially with all the recent changes to match finding and low player pool.

Maybe one day SD will actually give players incentive to play MM, and not stick to pubs. We’ll see.

I dont like the pub matches, 5v5 just feels like a better format.

However, the current system is completely ass. I’ll go from fighting cobalts to silvers from match to match, with expected results.

Last night I got paired against a 5 man group, all in gold 4 or higher, with nothing but silver on my team excluding me and one other person (both gold 4).

I never ranked up tbh. I raked down from Gold 4 to Gold 5 due to unfair teams all the time.
By any means, I’m not the best, but I can aim on the enemy and make him ded. Oh and I can do uhb-jek-tivz. But a team full of people with 300 hrs of DB against me, 1-2 people who actually can play, but most of the time newbs with lead/iron cards and free-rotation mercs ain’t fun.
And what @steelMailbox said. Exactly what he said.
