RANKING SYSTEM (LEVELS)

(Alias) #1

I was going to post this in the ‘WHO ARE THE HIGHEST LEVEL PLAYERS IN DIRTY BOMB?’ thread but I figured out to just create a thread myself.

Well, I’m the highest level player in the AUS region.

As you can see, I joined on the 1st of July, 2015. This was exactly a month after Dirty Bomb was released to the public (open beta). If levels did indeed reset during March this year, that would mean that these guys had a 4 month headstart.

I’m currently Level 83 with probably the least amount of in-game playtime (577 hours - 600 hours). I honestly don’t know think these in-game playtimes are actually recorded correctly but if they are in fact, that would mean it takes me an average of approximately 7 hours per level. Not to mention that starting off, the first few levels aren’t the static 400,000 XP.

And no, just in case any of you were wondering… I didn’t use the XP exploit. For those who have played with me for a long time, they would know.

It takes me a maximum of 8 hours to gain the static 400,000 XP (1 level). This is an average of 50,000 XP per hour. If you broadly think about it, gaining that amount of XP in an hour is easily achievable. You can play 5 games within that amount of time and earn at least 10,000 XP per game. Obviously you can’t be on breaks for longer than 20 minutes during that 8 hour period. I tend to sometimes earn an extra 10,000+ XP an hour, so I like to treat myself with a longer break from time-to-time.

How fast you’re able to level in this game really depends on the person behind the screen. If you’re the type of person who messes around constantly in-game, you’re going to have a very hard time leveling up. You need to stay dedicated. Some days you just won’t feel like playing and… that’s normal.

I see levels in this game as something to work on (just how other shooters have a ranking system). Without levels, I wouldn’t be playing Dirty Bomb as much as I would currently. It needs a ranking system where players can compete with each other.

(the point to the topic starts here…)

You see, I came from a game called Combat Arms (NEXON GAME) and there WAS (perhaps still IS) a very high competition for that position in the TOP #10 GLOBAL scoreboard. I was amongst that TOP #50. Back in the days, this was what most players worked for. The game would REWARD you as you rank up. As you get to the last rank possibly achievable, (General of the Army), it would be a game of cat and mouse and who could earn the most XP. There were MAJOR clans so this competition of earning XP was very enjoyable and not tiring as you’re playing with your best mates and grinding together.

Combat Arms even had a system that recorded who could earn the most XP daily, weekly, or monthly. The website was called ERBAZ (http://www.erbaz.com/). This game even when as far as creating an EVENT that EVERY SINGLE PLAYER could participate in. This was called SPIDERS vs SCORPIONS.

''Listen up Scorpions and Spiders…this isn’t your grandma’s battle!
You are about to embark on the fight of a lifetime! Starting December 15th, each soldier will be issued an assignment to either Scorpions or Spiders when they log in. Until January 16th, you will be neck and neck with your opposing team every day. Not only will you be fighting for the honor of claiming as many days as possible for your team, you will be competing for the ultimate in perks and prizes.

The Scorpions Vs. Spiders event is one of the largest game-wide events to ever take place in Combat Arms. First revealed in the 12/15/10 Content Update, it was a unique type of event where you are assigned to a specific “faction” - Scorpions or Spiders. [b]Everyone who will plays during the event will earn EXP and GP for themselves as well as their team. Each day, the team that managed to earn the most EXP and GP total would earn a “Flag”. The team with the most flags after January 16th, 2011 would receive a grand prize.’’[/i]

The amount of players online during that time is an unforgettable experience.

To conclude, I hope this game can create something out of levels. Right now, levels mean NOTHING and nearly EVERYONE wants it removed and it serves no clear purpose. Why remove it when you can achieve so much out of it? I’m that type of player who just can’t see the worth of playing a game just for fun WITHOUT anything to compete/work for.

I really don’t know what to get out of this thread but I just felt like expressing my opinion on this current situation. I may have a lot of disagreements, but I really don’t care.

Hopefully y’all had a good read.

An incentive for leveling and playing?

Better level up rewards and actual incentives for playing comp besides an arbitrary rank would be nice.

Those are two completely different topics. Competition matches do certainly deserve rewards but that doesn’t mean that people on public servers actually playing too gets to miss out on goodies. The major population of this game plays on public servers and it’s not like everyone in the player base population would go and play competitive altogether.

Not everything is on the competitive scene. If it was, only the ‘‘top players’’ would be gaining.

Besides, competition in Dirty Bomb is pretty much dead on its feet at the moment. Until it make its return, that’s a topic worthwhile visiting another day.

I’ve already mentioned it, but I dislike levelling in FPS games. If the game can’t hold people for it’s gameplay and need shiny blinking pop-ups and unlocks, the game is lacking what a fun game needs.
