From what I have read the Quake Wars community will be able to make their own moded maps to help keep up the intrests in Quake Wars. Rumor has it there is someone wanting to make a Tribes 2 Mod For Quake Wars. Cant wait to see that. I would be running it on my server if it comes out thats for sure. :stroggbanana:

I think cheaters ruined CSS, everyone got banned cold, mass bans. Servers filled with bots, fake servers. About 50% ended up in mental institute and the other 50% went to play battlefield 2… Which pretty much reflected in the way people played it.

As i had said in a different but same subject thread, if the requirements to run a ranked server for QW are the same as the BF series where you give up all your root/RDT access, then all mine will be UNranked as well.

I think the players who follower the objective will have the higher rank on stats, in bf2 it was the guys going alone or in jets

The problem is that, even tho there will prolly be many unranked servers, most ppl will play for stats on ranked servers. Leaveing everyone who arent playing for stats in a minority. Eventualy you will have situations where ppl ask you your rank and you will answer you dont have one. So you will be considerd just another nap that cant get a break.

what convoluted thinking, in ET most people aren’t in clans, so they don’t give a rat’s ass. people play BF ranked servers to get permanent unlocks, QW doesn’t have them so why bother, just play where you like. If you absolutely want to wag your e-penis, plenty of other games for it

I miss the It depends option.

If stats turn out good, and actually highlight good team players, I’ll play on ranked servers. Another benefit of ranked servers will be that they will most likely be vanilla ET:QW, so no Teletubby Land in WW2 setting (or whatever). Jaymod is largely responsible for W:ET Teletubbyness, with its support for custom sound files.

If stats turn out bad and/or abusable, I’ll play on unranked servers.

Either way, people on unranked servers will do what they’re doing now: worshiping K/D ratios at the cost of everything else.

Stock ET supports custom sound files too… and with just a tiny bit of common sense one can then understand that every mod thus supports custom sound files.

Stats could lend to some whoring like BF2. By the sounds of it, QW will hopefully have a different kind of focus but will still lend to most people preferring to want to play on ranked servers.

Personally, our clan uses Jaymod and we think it’s the best mod out there. A good balance between staying true to ETMAIN and adding bug fixes and new features. Quite frankly, if it wasn’t for any of the better mods out there, ET would have died awhile ago.

To conclude there will always be diehard players that will play only unranked servers. But the vast majority of QW scene will be happening on the ranked servers, it is as certain as the fact that ppl love stats.
So you can just scratch the “unranked” option from your pool so that we can get a better look at the real situation.
