Ranked Matches so unfair.

Here in the US East as Silver 1, but I can never find a good ranked match. I really want to increase my rank for the sweet, exclusive trinket, but I can’t since matches here take forever to find and when I do find one, 99.9% chance I’ll end up in an unfair match. The enemy would have like level 50-70 (well, their skill level is quite high) and my team would be full of noobs who can’t aim or heal or supply ammo. Can we have at least fair matches in Ranked?

The core issue is ranked is suffering from a problem loop: theres not enough people playing through matchmaking, thus finding players that match ELO-wise is tough for matchmaker to do. Then when it sort of “gives up” and since maximum skill range difference is met, it rather puts 2 teams with high difference against each other than makes them wait till eternity for proper opponents to start searching for ranked somewhere around the area.

These unfair matches alienate then even more players from the pool, thus just making it even tougher for matchmaker to fit proper opponents against each other. And then again, unfair matches, quits…

It’s upto SplashDamage and Nexon together to come up with more incentives to play ranked. +50% credit boost is move to right direction but in my honest opinion putting these little things on-by-one just doesn’t cut it. They’d have to add in more features/bonuses all at once, advertising it loud and clear. Only that would have a chance of bringing the mini-tidal wave of players to ranked, giving ELO system some fuel to work with. Not these little updates here and there, done in shadows only mentioned in some vague patch notes.

Heck even having one update where they advertise “this’n’this stuff is added…OH and also we made improvements to ELO in ranked, go check it out fellas!” might do the trick. I’ve never seen update mentioning ranked with any more fanfares than some hidden patch notes. “Competitive to the core” game? Ha.

So, we’ll never begin to have more balanced rather than stomp matches until we actually get a sustainable playerbase to ranked at all regions.

@bontsa Yea I see where you’re going. SD and Nexon really need to encourage people to play ranked, but does ranked always have to be 6v6? If not enough players for a 6v6, just make a 3v3 or something. Now I’m no matchmaking expert here, so this might not be a good idea, but I’m just hoping SD and Nexon fix the problem soon, because I really want a better trinket than Silver 1.

Or they can just give us veterans Elite Operatives.

My biggest gripe with competitive, and this goes for more games than just Dirty Bomb, is how ranked progress works. You could have the game of your life, and be carrying your team. You could go 50/5, revive tons of times, and do a lot of objectives, and have an amazing score overall. But you will still get punished for losing? That just doesn’t seem fair/balanced. I’m not saying we should reward the players that lose a game but I think it should be more centered around performance and good players shouldn’t be punished for the actions of their teammates.

@Patches04 I see what you’re thinking, and I totally agree. However, ranked matches aren’t just about one’s performance. It’s also about collaborating with your team and using each player’s/merc’s skills to their effectiveness. Right now, from my experience, team-balancing, or more importantly matchmaking is right now, bad. There would always be teams with high and low levels (levels don’t benefit your gameplay except showing off your skill). The higher the average level of a team is compared to the opposite, the more chance of winning they have. This doesn’t occur just in casual matches, even in ranked. Ranked might not show the levels anymore, but you can still see the good and the bad. Right now, from where I live, there’s always one team “good”, and another team “bad”.

Hi guys,

I am a serious player of dirty bomb, play competitively and que everyday.

IMO, since the season has just started everyone is still doing their placement matches or there is a lack of high tier placed players yet to climb the ladder.

Since the pool high tier players has such a limited amount of players, lower or non-placed players are forced up to match against each other. Give it a bit of time, everyone will start placing, and on a average the more you play and collaberate with your team successfully and effectively. You will soon find yourself climbing and getting better.

Anyways just my two cents, it may be hard to deal with the rofl stomps, but always keep in mind, you get an opportunity in discovering holes or lack of skill in some certain areas of your play style and game sense. Use it to your advantage, in time dirty bomb and and the que system will get more enjoyable for you.

Just be patient
