Honestly haven’t had a ranked game were i left off with “That was a fun, intense game!” at the end.
Ranked is weird
Most of my ranked games have been either stomping ir getting stomped.
I’ve had a few decent ones, but most of them are just so unsatisfying
Question I’m asking openly out of curiosity:
What makes CMM or Stopwatch more enjoyable for those that don’t enjoy Ranked? There are always stomps, spawn camps, quitters, team hoppers, spectate spot holders, trash talkers, melee only groups, smoke spam, Nader spam, concussion spam, and anything else you can think of in both (sometimes exclusive to) CMM and SW as well. Of course, there’s a lot of really evenly matched lobbies and entertaining ones too. So, what’s the difference? Only difference I see is that Ranked ‘matters and means something’ whereas the other modes don’t. I honestly get pretty much the same type of experience regarding the types of matches and people I get paired with across any mode. I suppose people try harder (I would hope so) and merc/team composition is a little less random in Ranked, but that’s about it.
Just looking for some consistency here is all. Maybe people should play Ranked, but slap a sticky note on their monitor that says ‘CMM’. Maybe then people would like it more?
Problem is i get put against clans or teams with one or more colbalts. Or higher ranked players then i usualy get stuck with low a team full of low ranked or unranked players. I still cant figure out why sd feels multiple colbalts against a team of one silver(me) and the rest unranked or bronse is ballanced.

This is definitely an issue, not gonna deny it. Seems more common once I get into Cobalt ranks or early on in the seasons when there are still a lot of unranked players. 1 Cobalt with 4 low Silvers against a team full of low-mid Golds and an unranked is usually over before it even starts. But, not enough players… so gotta live with it I guess.

It isn’t, but you probably didn’t lose squat for rank when you got rolled either. Had something like that happen to me yesterday. Couple of low silver, a gold, a bronze, and me as a silver master ( gold 2 now) got steamrolled by an elite operative, 2 cobalt masters, a gold master, and a silver of some sort. I think I lost 10, maybe, percentage points. Whereas other losses I’ve dropped 40% of my rank.
Not all losses are equal, neither are all wins.

True, CMM is about as awful as Ranked with the difference that one can expected level 3 players and somewhat excuse them for being unable to contribute anything meaningful to the team’s success. I find it very irritating though that in Ranked their are still equally clueless players that only are at a higher level. Even more so when they get matched with Gold+ players.
With SW however it’s much more likely to end up with a decent game because (at least in EU) it’s not uncommon for people to try to balance the teams by switching. Also if there are 7 players per team and both teams have 1 or 2 inexperienced players there are still 5 somewhat competent players left that can play tactics, with the rest tagging along and hopefully picking up a few tricks and moves. Ranked on the other hand with its 5 players per team regularly feels like a 3 vs 4.
I was surprised that I’ve had only a few stomps, and most of my ranked games were close ones since the start of the event.

All the problems that come from uneven matchmaking are worse in competitive modes. Instead of chilling on Grandeur Aimee out because they’ve got the win in the bag, the better team in ranked tryhards until the bitter end. Instead of ending the game quickly from the Obj gametype, the games go for at least 15 minutes (typicallly). And the matchmaking is worse in the first place probably due to lower population.
In an unfortunately high % of Ranked games the outcome is clear within the first 90 seconds. The games rarely take less than 15 minutes. That’s a very feel bad experience and once it happens to you more than a few times (run into a stack with smurfs? Enjoy getting mowed down for 15 minutes in your futile struggle to repair the EV)… once it happens a few times the upside of some ranked points isn’t worth getting stuck in that situation.
Bad ranked experiences are more punishing than bad experience with CMM or SW.

It’s not 5v5
That’s pretty much it
There’s actually like real strategy that can be used instead of being forced to stick in a 5-man deathball
Team compositions are more interesting in 6v6
Stopwatch is a little more bearable at 7v7, instead of being a slow boring 30 minute grind, you can actually like… find people to shoot and square off with.
5v5 is just too few players for this game
6v6 is where it’s at. I know it’s just 1 more player per team but it’s literally the difference between “diverse, interesting, fun. Just the right amount of players.” (6v6) and “restricted, dull, slow. Too few players.” (5v5)
If stopwatch was two rounds of objective mode and ranked was 6v6, the only thing I’d ever play would be Ranked. Straight up
