Ranked High ping

(Crizp) #1

Season 3 is here and i dont wanna play ranked anymore!

what’s the reason ?

High Ping Player!

it’s ok if you play with 100 ms
but over 150 ms its starts to tilt me so hard.
i cant even hit these guys and i got shot every single time.

i lost 2 ranked games cause of this.
its really not fair.

i hope it will be fixed soon

those people with 250 pings trying to play ranked

really ruin my day, i get shot by high ping sniper i already got behind cover and the kill marker show the sniper shot me thru walls

i already lost my appetite for ranked now.

Players have very little influence on their own ping in ranked, and that is a huge problem.
I set my region to EU and it includes every country between the Atlantic ocean and the Ural mountains.
I see a lot of servers in the browser with 40-70 ping, but somehow when I play ranked, the matchmaking finds a 180-250ms ping server the “best suitable” for me (sometimes even 300).

If quick join does that, no problem, I can just disconnect and try again.
In ranked I either play at a disadvantage, convince my team to surrender, or bear the (recently increased) leaver penalty.

Also, I didn’t read anything in the patch notes about getting leaver penalty because of unintentional disconnect (due to technical errors, without the option to reconnect of course)

It makes no difference for the other players if you’re disconnected willingly or not.

EU servers give me a steady 30 ms ping. US east 100 ms. 300 ms ping fluctuating is a scenario were likely one of the computer in the network is downloading and bottlenecking the connection, or some rural ISP.

You can improve the stability of your network and prioritize traffic from your gaming rig with options in your network.

  • Set your IP in the QoS option of your router to prioritize your PC.
  • Check other programs using bandwith.
  • On wifi, try shieldings and directionnal antenna.
  • Set your wifi channel in a way it does not overlap with your neighborhood.

3 cases

  1. Caused by your own issues, such as your PC is downloading things without you knowing or your family is using an amount of internet speed that will cause you laggy.

  2. ISP, issues might also come from ISP. Bad routes

  3. Bad luck, you somehow is been putting into a server while the others have much lower ping. I am talking about connect from US to EU and instead of finding an expectable server for everyone, it finds a server that can gives a better ping for some of the players.

@AlphaUT
4. 90% of the ranked servers are garbage.

As an Indonesian, “Asia” tags means nothing to me. I’m risking getting put into a far flung Indian server, a low chance of being in a Russian server, or most likely put into a New Zealandian server, all of which gives me over a hundred ping, maybe even two hundred. I have better luck trying to brunt the 150 ping in west US servers than using the Asian ones. Servers are indeed expensive, but I’d rather be notified of there being no available games, than playing as Tracer from Overw

Dude there are no Aus/New Zealand/Indian servers. All the servers for Aus/Asia are based in Singapore. Every Aus player has to put up with 100-250 ping every game.

I’m here representing Western Australia, where both Sydney & Singapore servers provide 58 ping

If that’s so, why do I have over 150 ping on Asian servers, but somehow less on EU? Honestly, I can get away with 100 or so ping there…

So… why may I ask, did when everyone claimed they WERE from US EAST did we get placed into a US EAST server that had all of us at 120 ping+. One guy from South America happened to have 50 ping…

Did they accidentally flip SA and East servers?
Source is a ranked match from yesterday where my ping never dipped below 148.

Im east coast and in east coast im geting 24-38 ping most of the time. its west coast and eu servers that give me 100-130 ping

I’m in the US and get ~20 ping on near servers and ~70 to the ones on the other side of the country. 80 is about the max ping I’d consider playable for a FPS (or any other game where reaction time plays a pivotal role). Today in my first ranked game something seemed a little “off” I was getting killed by people around corners and I was making shots that should have never hit. Eventually I hit tab http://imgur.com/a/M1oQh
Not really acceptable for a ranked match when I have no control over what server I’m joining. I’d rather wait another 5 min then have a shitty match, even though we won that one by a landslide.

It was like that for me too, except EVERYONE was suffering…
I have some screenshots from that day that for some reason I didn’t add to my Original post. If you guys wants evidence of what I was referring to.

I’m an Indonesian too fyi

Asia ranked servers are located on Singapore most of the time (if you press tab in-game you can see the server name.) I’m also having 80-130 ping most of the time, maybe it’s just our internet providers sucks ass they can’t even provide stable connection.

Australian players even got worse because they need to play on Singaporean server, 200+ ping most of the time

i feel bad when they put australian on singapore, those people are willing to play regardless the ping, but at the same time are annoying because you get to fight teleporting aura

(Whetstone) #17

and I thought, Asia was the only server that got suddenly terrible ping

looks like this is one of those hidden updates by SD, “works as intended” ¯_(ツ)_/¯

(Ohsnapkline) #18

High ping players destroy my enjoyment of the game. I watched someone with 250 ping get 53 kills and 13 deaths in ranked and none of my teams shots ever registered on him.

not to mention the entire lag compensation/client server prediction system needs reworked or replaced because its actually putting players between the 150-200 ping mark at an advantage. they see you on their screen first, I even tested this out by jumping into an EU server being from US west sitting at 150-180 ping.

Its borked and needs fixed

it was fixed by moving the taiwan server back to singapore since there are so many indian, thailands, and southeast asian player.

(Cletus_VanDamme) #20

I get 120 ping to (some) public ASIA servers, yet the ranked ASIA servers I get 170 ping. (Gold Coast, QLD)

SD pls move ASIA ranked servers to the location that gives me 120 ping.
