Ranked balance is even worst that i realize

(KorpKyuuSama) #1

I realize something in the last few days playing ranked. And is not about the Party of 5 stomping 5 solo players

The higher is your level the lower (level) your team mates have.

If you are a lvl+50 you will get all the low lvls in your team.
Because i have a high lvl, the “balance” chose from the other 9 players the lower ones and put then on my side.
I test this, and it’s true!!!
I know this because i go see how many hours ppl have and is always between 30 and 50. Meanwhile the enemy team is between 500 and 800.

So i played 10 games and only won, one. And it was a close one.
Main problems of having ALWAYS low levels in my team.

.Cant kill no one, insta surrender.
.Afk(played 6 games 4v5)
.Vassilis going 0/7
.Ppl that can even pass the tutorial ( not joking, cant even sprint and are playing ranked)

So i can’t do anything about that.

Ranked in Dirty Bomb is the most broken thing ever. I never see a game where this happens.

This just make me lose any will to play the game in times like this, with no new mercs or events.
Or i don’t play ranked, or i get a team and stomp every game >_>

Make the teams random, anything is better that this “balance”!!

Ranked has a plethora of issues plaguing it right now, which sorely need addressing if this game is to ever form better players naturally. The major ones are team and solo queue, and then the fact that every unranked player is treated as a gold-tier player instead of a bronze or silver. Coupled with the fact that you’re lucky to get 30 people playing MM at any one time it feels, this leads to lots of new-to-MM players being put against better players, which then leads to a vicious cycle of them losing, never touching MM again, and further reducing potential players for MM.

Levels should have nothing to do with MM honestly, but if this is true then its another thing that needs reworking.

(Szakalot) #3

levels have nothing to do with MM (they are not factored in when making teams), but putting a really good player with a bunch of noobs against an average team is never going to work and leads to huge rage on both sides.

Exactly why I made a post to hopefully see a competitive MM event, even if it could get half the current playerbase to queue for competitive, cases like these should become rarer as you play more.
I assume you were matched together with more lower levels, since maybe you were the highest level out of all 10 players in the match.

Guess why noone plays it.

And that’s exactly how the system works all around for ranked MM and pubs. Ranked MM simply visualizes your private skill rating in the form of a public badge. The system doesn’t use player levels but a player skill rating. This is an example that probably happens more than people know. If somebody has a player skill of 10,000 and the rest of the server has players with a skill of 5,000, 4000, 2000 and the rest are 500 skill players. The player with the 10,000 skill rating is going to end up with all 500 skill level players and the 5000, 4000 and 2000 skill players will be on the same team with two more 500 skill level players. This works out to an average skill level of 2400 per team.

So the 10,000 skill level player will have to carry four 500 skill level players while three players on the other team who aren’t as good individually can work together easier and probably offset the 10,000 skill level player unless he can ace them and get at least one of the 500 skill level people on his team to push forward and do something.

The system tries to make teams even based on a skill rating that SD has created (not levels) but stomps can happen if the higher rated player simply isn’t able to overcome the teamwork that is on the other side. Or worse, the higher rated player doesn’t stick around for some reason and which then leaves nothing but the lower players on the other side causing a stomp. This happens in pubs all the time. A high rated player joins a server then has to leave for some reason and the team proceeds to get stomped. And in 5v5 MM a team with a really good player might be on a merc they don’t know as well or simply can’t overcome a good crossfire from the other team by themselves and they get stomped.

What really sucks about this system is the high rated player might be able to carry their team to victory but the lower level players on their team might get stomped pretty hard in the process because they are going to be fighting people who are better/more experienced on the other side.

And the reason is more often than not, that the high ranked player isn’t willing to carry their team, because it’s fucking stressful to tryhard all the damn time if you just want to play a bit

Could be, but carrier peeps (I’ve been there too, I tend to play a lot at free-for-all servers) should also stop stressing over a pub game then and just let it be. I form my squad so that I can least attempt to have entertainment when getting stomped no matter what I do, like melee RedEye-ing or Phantom around.

(LifeupOmega) #9

It’s hard to have fun in a pub if your other 5 potatoes can’t even shoot a still target honestly. Carrying pubs is one of the Circles of Hell I’m sure.

(nokiII) #10

Yeah, the problem is essentially, that you have the choice between:

  1. Try your hardest and carry the team to victory or at least a prolonged loss at an later objective, which isn’t fun after the 10th rounds that went that way.
  2. Get spawncamped into your base, because the other dudes on your team can’t kill the majority of enemy players, which also isn’t fun.
  3. Leave the server, get into a better balanced one

I mostly choose option 3 when I want to have some innocent fun with proxy.

(MTLMortis) #11

Ranked can’t be balanced right now due to the lack of players to fill slots.

There is absolutely zero incentive to play ranked matches due to the extremely bad taste left in everyone’s mouth from the cheating/hacking phase of ranked that went on for so long.

Matchmaking in a nutshell !!! no matter ranked or pubs … matchmaking always does this magic !!

I’m assuming kARDON rektated all of you since he’s from ROIDS. They’re all low-mid level players but skill wise they are top tier.

(FalC_16) #14

Not just in competitive, but also pubs.

@Dawnrazor Yeah he was good in the game … only player above 10k XP … that’s because we all were playing meele fights while the opposition is allowed to shoot … in order to balance the game !!!

But pubs are pubs, i don’t mind that, and gives me opportunity to teach some cool stuff about the game to nice new players

But in ranked, oh no no no…

I mean. This system actually makes sense. In a game where teamwork isn’t important.
DB was always acting as the really team-based game, yet the competitive algorhythm gives a huge dump on actual teamplay by creating such teams.
