Letting windows update while playing on ranked then asking to remove the lag ban is not a DB server problem. It’s origin is clientside, between the chair/keyboard interface.
Windows wasn’t updating, already checked. Again, it’s still wrong to permanently kick a player due to a lag spike. @$!# happens, shouldn’t mean that both the player and the player’s team have to suffer.
There are people lagging their asses off with 200+ ping and never get kicked. A ping shooting up and then coming right back down doesn’t deserve a kick.
Lagwizards with 200 ms ping should use their own region on ranked or get kicked. The ban system is far too tolerable to give an interesting experience now in fact. For everyone.
Why someone would play a shooter with a ping of above 100 is above my comprehension. There is plenty of CCG that are turn based.
Most of the time it’s not even their fault they have high pings, but the lack of servers/people playing in their region. Even if there was a kick for high pings, you still shouldn’t stay kicked just because your ping spiked. Plus with the way the servers are and have been in the past, it’s not unlikely to be a server-sided issue that causes ping/lag issues. Also, lots of people play shooters because they’re fun, but not everyone gets lucky with their internet or location. The U.S. for example has pretty slow internet compared to some other parts of the world. Plus, most locations in the U.S. only have a handful of options to choose from and of those, maybe only 2 worth choosing.
Also, ping used to not play such a big role in DB, but something changed. Not sure what happened, but sometime in maybe mid-late 2016 the servers got updated or something and now any ping over 100 is difficult to play with or against. It used to be pretty smooth regardless of your ping as long as it was stable- sadly, not the case anymore.
But that’s a bit off-topic. There’s still just no need for a kick+temporary ban simply for a ping spike or connection lost. It should allow the player to rejoin once their connection has smoothed out.
