Random Map Idea for SD

(Cep) #1

OK all this discussion about maps and spawns and operatives just set my mind flowing and you know what SD could do for a new side objective for operatives on any new map they decide to make?

Classic Doom style crushing ceilings and walls!

That’s right kids! Lets say that there is a tunnel from one place to another which is some sort of side avenue to flank the defenders, basically the attacking team can hack the tunnel controls to stop the trash compactor providing a route.

The defending team can re-hack the same objective to get the tunnel controls back online and crush anyone in the tunnel.

Anyone else got some bright ideas before I unleash the raaaaging Tapir? No?

Well then! :stroggtapir::stroggtapir::stroggtapir:

Good idea! Sounds horrific. And devious.

I like it. The Resistance section of the Ark would be an ideal place for a trash compactor (both a ceiling and wall variety), maybe some kind of incinerator that flared up at intervals?

It would also be nice too if the crushing walls could be scaled by say, only light builds, and they could climb up on top for the brief period that the walls came together.

Oooh yeah, I mean SD are certainly going for the pyrotechnics in the next release maybe an old coal incinerator from one of the ship engines can be used for access and Engi’s could fix it to fry peeps.

Or perhaps the fan blades of a cut n shut tanker perhaps?

You know that this idea is just sick. Pyrotechnics would add some drama too.

And what about a decompression chamber from an old navy vessel? Hacking/Fixing the door or controls could cause the room to slowly bleed oxygen, kind of like a caltrop you can’t escape?

I’m full of sick ideas >D

What if there was a version of escort mission where one of the 8 players on a “Team A” was randomly (or intentionally) selected as the escortee. The Escortee would be limited to the same rate of movement as the NPCs have, and unable to parkour (alt: just vault, but not able to mantle or climb).

“Team B” would have an 8-7 advantage in combat, but that advantage would be balanced by the escortee not being tied to a set path, and having the ability to duck into cover until his team was ready to proceed.

How different would the escort mission be in Aquarium, if the security officer could take alternate paths, avoid fire, and synchronize himself with the flow of battle?

A bit like a carry objective without the object to carry you mean? It would certainly add a twist to escorting.

Raven Shield had that game mode and it was absolutely epic. The player only had possession over a secondary weapon and thus relied heavily on his team-mates to defend him.

(AmishWarMachine) #10

Yeah… but with a carry objective, the carrier can jump, slide, vault, engage in combat, etc…

It would be imperative that all the person being escorted could do, is move (and slowly)… otherwise it’d be way too easy to win as the escorting team, even with the man-down disadvantage.

Ah I get ya a bit like the classic Maziac’s, where you had to drop your sword to carry the treasure which meant you couldn’t defend yourself and you moved slower.

Wow Maziac’s, now there was a game! (I’m really showing my age now)

Ship Yard decompression chamber. A desperate attempt of the Resistance to send a message to the Founders. A sinister plot. I like this one too. A good fix for an Engy.

Good idea, i like it (Y)
