Random Augments - Answered

(Tomme) #1

TheNinth has answered my question so you can ignore this whole post. Thanks again TheNinth.

[s]I was always kinda in favour of the card system - especially the pre-stress test system. Now with the new system, while not as good as before, I felt it was alright. This was untill people started saying the augments on loadout cards were completly random. This makes zero sense apart from to drive people away from the game and generate money, now I can understand why some people are so angry at this current system.

Here are some of my founders cards (the augments seem kinda arbitrary don’t you think?), previously there were set augments on your cards as well as a tier sytem, now they seem completly random and badly done.

Before it was great, it allowed augments to be balanced to the weapon on the card, no sprint reload shotguns ect, now you can’t balance for that at all. I think not having a free choice in weapon is fine, allows easy balance and good gameplay, but this completly random setup is utterly absurd.

I do not mind getting random cards from a case, but random cards with random augments and random weapons is just silly.

In my ideal world I would have tiered cards, with set augments and weapons. You can still have RNG cases if you really want. Oh and skin cards seperate from loadout ones. Wouldn’t say no to Stream Trading for cards either (not mercs) but even if that is planned I imagine not for a while now.

This is all based of the fact that augments are random, if they are not then please disregard everything I have said [/s]

Here are two Lead Aura and one Iron Proxy cards I have; their weapons and augments are completely different, but so are their class names.

Left Aura is the R81 Offensive Close Assault.
Right Aura is H72 Support Close Assault.
Proxy is H11 (?) Cyclone Close Assault.
Seems like Close Assaults all have shotguns, but I don’t know how many different classes there are per tier (it seems like higher tiers have less variety) but it looks like each class has a fixed set of attributes, so the only RNG going on is between which specific class you’re getting (including the letter/number, it seems to match the weapon, R -> Remburg 7, H -> Hollunds, and other cards also match this, not sure what the numbers are though)

Ah thank you so much! Glad it not completly RNG then, I’m guessing anyone else with founders cards will be the same as mine then. Phew a big problem of my mind. Didn’t want to have to pray even harder to the RNG god if I wanted a super Sawbonez - Get Up, Direct Hit Medic Packs and something else.

Thanks again.

I would kill for that Fragger Obsidian card.

My sawbonez iron card is exactly the same as sawbonez obsidian with the absence of the chopper augment. Kind of disappointing really.

(bumbertyr) #6

right?

Massive letdowns on the obsidian cards, I kinda expected it to be good.

Having collector’s only cards which offer real advantages would destroy competitive play. Even minor differences like the chopper augment are a problem. I really really hope that there will be non-obsidian equivalents to each obsidian card (minus cosmetic differences).

The numerical digits refer to the pistol and knife. EG last digit = 1 means the loadout contains the Beckhill Combat Knife (sp?), and 2 = Stillnotto Stiletto. I think the adjectives (cyclone, warlike, improved, etc.) are related to the perks.

(TheNinth) #9

Awesome!
The adjectives aren’t that simple though, I’m afraid.
Two Lead Aura cards BL81 Offensive Operative and R81 Offensive Close Assault have Cool and Drilled respectively.
Hell, even two Lead Arty cards, Offensive Rifleman “D72” and “B81” have different augments.

Seeing the “try hard” perk, I would really argue about why that thing is here. I’d hardly welcome a perk that rewards you for dying.

(ivoryQuestion) #11

There is something to be said for Blacklight Retributions system, but I don’t want this game to get to anywhere near that type of complex loadout.
I know people will have there preferred loadouts and then you will get loadout builds and how to’s etc and then everyone will be rocking the maximized loadouts for there Char with a few people who prefer a different layout, then you will get certain chars being more OP and blah blah blah…
I think the RNG is too random atm, but trading would be a good start, maybe we can work on a community card tradeup wiki and 1+1+1 =
Similar to how the Horadric Cube worked in Diablo 2 and people figured out the combos.
Cheers

Not really, those are two great augments for Sawbonez and if other - lower - tier cards didn’t have a chance to get them, Founders / Limited Edition (Obsidian) cards would be way to strong and unfair.

Why is everyone so upset about $20? i spent $120 in 2012 to be a founder for Dirty Bomb and i had to ask @MissMurder for my code because i didn’t receive any e-mail for a new one and the ones i have on Warchest didn’t work. I dont even have my 5 pack of mercs i’m supposed to have unlocked. I haven’t gotten much of what was promised out of my “Donation” lmfao except for a T-Shirt(pretty cool, but still…). I do know that on Warchest it says “on launch” but everything has been flopping around so all over the place between warchest, nexon, and steam that i’m not sure i will ever see what i was promised. To direct quote from warchest:

Instant Access to Closed Alpha *
The Alpha version of Dirty Bomb is a work in progress. Levels, assets, and features are going be added, changed and improved during the alpha phase, and there will be bugs, and balancing that isn’t final. Your feedback and input will help shape what Dirty Bomb becomes.
