Hardware bans are only effective for countering the skiddies. People with a sense of knowledge can easily change and/or spoof HWIDs to bypass this. So it might get rid of a substantial amount, I doubt it would take care of all of them.

But it might scare some people to buy hacks because they dont have the knowledge/skills to bypass the Hardware IDs. As you said, you wont get 100% of hackers but I would assume that the amount of hackers is reduced pretty good.

I agree on that one, the kiddie ‘hackers’ are also the most annoying ones. Often screaming about people sucking and them being pro and just being plain showoffs rather than just hack.

It wouldn’t be a bad idea to introduce hardware bans in this game as the devs aren’t selling the game…

It needs to be put in place, because I have no motivation to try and even compete in pugs or competitions. Until we can clearly see there is an active working AC, what is the point? I mean, we can’t honestly say Pugs and competitions are 100% cheat free, although the community does a great job at trying to keep them out.

While playing pugs myself (I haven’t played many, and I won’t be name dropping, because I could very well be wrong!!!), I have seen some dodgy crap!
This includes pre-shooting and being shot as soon as I go around a corner, people trying to jump shoot and the bullet hitting the wall in front of them because they didn’t realise it went that high etc. I ain’t a bad player(not the best, I will happily admit that!). I also understand pub is a completely different game, but! The mechanics don’t change and when I dominate a pub game(objectives too) with mostly every kill being 1+ headshots and then move over to playing pugs, I go negative 9/40 in every game, I think to myself ‘well, I didn’t really have a chance to react’. I don’t complain, I don’t call out, because some of these players ARE really damn good players! I don’t know them well enough to say “he’s a cheater”, but I truly won’t be happy until there is an AC which proves it’s self worth. I want to play competitive, but why don’t I have that piece of mind!

Agreed, dodgy crap indeed. ATM, I to don’t consider myself to to be a top class player by any means. But I’ve played my fair share in the comp scene in general and also played premier class players and teams and **** like that just doesn’t happen. Either DB players are the best in the world or somethings not quite right.

Of course, hacks will never be completely eradicated, and as you said; A substantial amount of people have no knowledge about any of the more technical things at all. So permanently getting rid of those would be a nice start. Saying ‘but it won’t work for all cheaters’ does not mean it’s not better than the current situation.
