Raiders source released.

(hummer) #1

Now that I’m working full time as a level designer, I won’t have the time or energy to do anything more with the raiders map. So, I packed up all the source files into one big zip, and decided to post it for people to play with.

Basically, the map source is here, along with any .maps used for the creation of various ASEs (I may have missed a few), the ASEs themselves, some MD3 conversions, and the MAX files used for some models I made. Oh, and the PCX is there too.

You’ll still need to download the raiders.pk3 in order to get the scripts, shaders, textures, etc. I wanted the source to be light.

Also, don’t mind the file name (raiders_b1.map). I would always manually rename the bsp and scripts once I compiled the map. This was the last source I touched for the final.

Anyway, you can get it here until it get mirrored elsewhere:

I hoping someone will split the level up into 2-3 parts like I intended

Let me know if anything crutial is missing so I can add it to the package.

Oh heh, sorry… thought most people knew  Guess I was too busy to make it more known…

I started work for Graymatter about a month ago or so, in LA.

Good times it has been. The hours are definitely longer than teaching, but way more fun

Do I have your permission to use the raiders’ files as an ET map exemple ?

I’m planning to modify the Discret Logic GMAX Tempest gamepack map editor (I got Discreet’s official OK) to improve it and to be able to work with any Quake-3 based engine. As my first Quake-3 based game engine to be tested, I was thinking about ET.

I would use your files to help me code the changes and then supply it as a map example, shipped with Tempest’s new version.

I haven’t started yet as I have other projects right now. I should start in a month or two.

P.S. : My only relation to Discreet Logic is due to the fact that I am a GMAX forum moderator. I do not work for Discreet Logic. I obtain theire OK to modify Tempest after several months of discussion and only I is allowed to work on it. I cannot share it. I have not estimated date of delivery. I am doing this on my spare time only and on my own and for the Tempest community. I have no gains in doing this.

See, Hummer’s smart. He realized that personal mapping is a thing of the past. On the other hand, there’s me who doesn’t have any time yet go’s and decides to become part of a mappack… :weird: …Oh Hies sock.

Hey if you guys come over the pond for E3, we should go

[edit] I broke my Speak-n-Spell…

(hummer) #20

Browser: Yeah, that’s cool with me

And yeah… before, I would go home and spend all night mapping. Now, I go home and like, interact with my wife.

Also, yes, we must go for some  at E3, although since I’m the company n00b I get the distinct impression I’m going to be demoing most of the time.
