Radio Tower map

I’m creating a map, but, i have some problems with sky in ET!

I have used the RTCW tutorial, but…

  1. Sky is the cube, that is surrounding the map. The edges are
    very noticable.

  2. Panzerfaust explodes on it.

  3. Grenades bounces of it.

  4. I can’t call the stupid airstrike (Can’t see the target!)

  5. Just 2 working textures. :banghead: :angry:

And further:

  1. Everything is at the same brightness. Even the deepest cave! :eek3:
    I haven’t put light in there. I’m mean the map.

  2. How can I make the invisible wall for spectators??? :moo:

i think you just used textures without shader

Make sure the textures u are using for the SKY has a shader. That is easy to see in Radiant. Texures that have shaders files have a white outline in the texture window. The best place to look for SKIES with shaders is in the “skies” texture folder, dont belive there is a single shader sky in the “skies_sd” folder.

The ones i know work is:
sd_wurzburgsky
sd_batterysky
sd_goldrush
sd_railgun
sd_siwa
sky_goldrush

They all have the sky param in the skies.shader

And for the brightnes, i guess you havent compiled -light if you only compile the -bsp your map will be fullbright.

I need siwa sky ( or any other sky with sun! ). It has shader but when I use it… :banghead: :angry:
It doesn’t work! Help me! :frowning:

I too am still a complete mappin noob the only sky shader i have found to work for me so far is sd-batterysky which is a nice cloudy one with a hazy sunshine. A lot of the other ones just strobe my limbo menu and strange things like that.

As to seeing the edges of the sky box you need to make it so the edges are not seen with mountains or buildings or anything that will block the view.

I hope this helps you a little i know little more so i apologise if this info is crap.

speaking about airstrikes…
in order to call airstrike is if the map is leaked?
i made a box without a roof and used the clip texture as the roof and made another entity with the texture of the sky (to have it an outdoors feeling) and was able to call artillery. is this really the right way?

I’ve got over it :clap: .
Next problem: I’ve created a terrain with EasyGen, but now, I can’t place the mines. I think the *.shader file is a real problem. But how to fix it??
