im trying to make the windsheild for my train, but when i try to start messing with glass brushes or anything like that, a window pops up saying radiant has an error and need to close, whats wrong?
Radiant shuts down on me!
Can anyone help me, that is the last part of my train and i need to fix it
its not only doing it with the galss texture, the entire program will shut down just randomly, i cant figure out y, does anyone have any possible solutions for this, or an idea on what may be wrong?
If this never happened before when using the same version of GTK Radiant, I would suggest scanning for viruses, or undo any system upgrades that you have done, if possible. If not, you may want to try a newer/older version of Radiant.
i got 1.4.0, and also, i dont got no antivirus thing, that might be it, but i cant get rid of any if that be the case
Hmmm, I find that Radiant does this to me sometimes when I select a face of a non-caulked brush and choose to caulk it with the button on the quick-task bar (the small purple ‘C’). Maybe not what’s ailing you, but I thought I’d just say (P.S. I am still using version 3.8.)
idk, i think it might actually be a virus, i found that my internet explorer and yahoo messenger get the same message sometiems to, i just dont got nothing to scan and delete them
Yuk, get rid of Internet explorer, it’ll let most virus’ onto your comp without you knowing… I had it and had to format after a bunch of virus’ launched themselves onto me, go with Firefox as I’ve had nothing since.
There are also some free available scanner.
One is adaware that looks for spyware.
The other one is Antivir a virus scanner ( http://www.free-av.de or http://www.antivir.de ).
hey Mr. Tickles, that crash scenario you were talking about also occurs when you have a patch or curved brush selected and hit the “caulk selection” button.
Ta mush, forgot about that one
You could also try Trend Micro’s Housecall, it’s an online one and free… well, it works for me anyway.
i tried that one to, i wouldnt delete the viruses for me and i couldnt find what they was listing
Well, don’t start it with auto-clean… and when it comes up with something, take a note of it, i.e. write it down, then google it. There should be plenty of places that tell you how to get rid of it. For some, they may tell you to access your registry and delete a few keys, but make doubly sure you know what you’re doing in there, or do nothing and get someone who does know, otherwise you will totally break your comp.
i used one of the anti viruses use higher up, i got rid of 2 viruses, so far it hasnt shut down, i was just wondering, could having alot of things on a map and not having no hint brushes or something ( i noticed them in Goldrush but dont know what they are for) might cause it to crash or something?
Ummm, I suppose it would through overheating as not using hint/structural brushes would make your comp do a lot more work…
An excellent detail/hint/structural brush tutorial:

want to hear something crazy? whenever i compile a map with the bounce8 switch my computer shuts down. i think it’s just overheating that is causing it. this is true for any map, small ones that i’ve created to demonstrate vis blocking techniques or complete maps.
