radiant models and their copyright question

(Pukedukem) #1

is It ok to use models and textures from other games that came with radiant?

(blushing_bride) #2

you mean like bits from RTCW, i believe the answer is no

then why did they give me all the textures and models from other games with radiant. If i wasn’t suppose to combine those textures and models dont give them to me. Tell me I have to use the pk3 stuff from ET only. I read the copyright aggrement in radiant and it didnt mention the textures and models that came with it. I’ll keep my models and textures till I get a complaint.

Then why’d you ask?

Are you sure that the radiant level editing tools are supplying you with textures from other games. I always thought radiant came with no textures. it might be showing up textures from games you own that are on your HD but im sure radiant tool set would not give things away for free that otherwise you could only get by BUYING the original game.

anyway i doubt activision will send laywers after you if you distribute their copyrighted material for free in your map .pk3 (maybe lucas arts will)

it came with a sp wolf map and mp_beach. had allot of models to but missing all of their textures.
so i guess its alright

radiant does not has models and/or textures. it simply extracts them from your pk3’s of rtcw and et.

and for using games resources u don’t have to read the copyright aggrement in radiant but the EULA tha comes with wolf, q3, et, etc, where it states that u cannot use those resources to develop other games.

i’ve never installed Q3 or RTCW on this machine. Radiant made allot of game folders in my programfiles nothing but sample map files and some models. Just like the Gods gave us Goldrush.map . I dont think crossing rtcw with Wolf should get anyone to mad. Its the same title. Its not like putting Sonic in mario world.
