You could only see another players stats if you were spectating them. Which reminds me since we are talking about an e-peen subject. In later W:ET trickjump mods you can see who is spectating who on the scoreboard. I thought this was really cool and makes you feel like a mini-celebrity when you see 6 people spectating you. (obviously this is an annoyance if you’re trying to spectate a hacker without him knowing, so you’d need to solve that)
/r/gaming K:D vs W:L
Don’t get me wrong, things like end of game stats are fantastic and a lot of fun.
But nothing makes me want to give up on a game like global persistent stats that nag at the back of my mind everytime I fire up the game.
To be honest, I think we’re actually saying the same thing in different ways.
Oh, i think i misread that then lol. It sounded like it was advocating removal of all stats again. I think in this forum was a similar discussion some time ago and thought it was a rererence
Yes global permanent stats = no-go when player can’t decide if he wants to be tracked. SD should really listen to that! But back on topic of K/D vs W:L
You could only see another players stats if you were spectating them.
Oh, not ALT, i think CTRL. You could see the best players acc i think. ALT showed only your personal stuff, and at the end of round a stats presentation (oh man long time opened that menu in W:ET actually). I say that because i think DB once had K/D removed from scoreboard during alpha, even at endscreen, if i remember correct.
CTRL was top shots.
Weapons listed with the highest acc with their respective owners.
EDIT: also other info like headshots count, shots fired & missed.
Give me stats. They are fun and are for me a goal in the game. I mean I still remember getting 27 acc in W:ET and trying to increase it every time I played. Down side of stats is getting banned based on your stats. It happened a lot. Getting banned on jaymod / etpub / silent servers, because admins thought it was impossible to get 200 hs and 50+ acc.
So I would like to have stats, but only for myself or an option to not share it.
Certain stats are awesome, others are just a crap shoot.
Failure is the main ingredient to success. You could very well start off with an extremely terrible w/l and k/d but turn into one of the best players in the game after a long period of failing an learning.
Well I wasn’t expecting this thread to blow up. I just saw that thread on reddit and thought it might contains some interesting opinions on the subject.
And not without reason the highest serious comment pleads for a rudimentary xp-scoring system.
I’m happy with the scoreboard, as it is now. I think, that the k/d, from every single one, can only be seen at the end is a great solution. But it’s also great, that it can be seen at all. I missed it in Brink and I’m glad they implented it in DB. And that opinion won’t change, no matter how k/d-whorish that may sound.
This whole purist XP and objective talk… you guys would really be happy to only know if your favorite sports team has won, or not? You don’t care for the number of goals? Reeeeeally?
I think part of the problem is having an emphasis on k/d in a team/objective based game. Emphasis on k/d emphasizes selfish gameplay, as many of you have illustrated with your comments(whether you realize it or not). It’s this self oriented, braggart, mindset which also turns people off. Sure, yeah, it’s because the other people suck and you’re so great…sigh…just like it’s all the crappy team’s fault when you lose…blah, blah, blah, douche, douche, douche.
Personally, I don’t have a problem with the k/d being displayed on the scoreboard, etc. I just don’t think it should be the first thing you see.

Haven’t encountered much “douche talk”. But bragging is fun; it’s even funny to get taunted, when it’s done in a really witty way. This is not a game about flower picking for Christ’s sake, I don’t understand what’s wrong with some of you guys. I mean some of you mutilated me ingame, but now you are talking like pacifistic vegans who’d rather play an objective driven Sponge Bob game.

It´s just the same thing except that meaningless large numbers are being turned into something that is easy to read.
Above 12.5% you did above average and below 12.5% you did below average. That’s much more exciting than seeing three or four figures behind each name.
I don’t mind the KDR or the W/L ratios. As long as I am having fun and not doing crappy too much, it’s all good. getting too much into stats is good for judging the skill of players…but not really something I am too focused on.
