Very well may be a reference to this video. I remembered this thread when I saw this.
I can’t believe I’ve found this, because I have been checking out parkour/freerunning (they are 2 different things) for 3 days. Parkour is efficiently moving from place to place, freerunning is making your own style for movement (and thus has more flips and trickjumps). Neither is much of a sport (at least not in a competitive way), but there have been competitions and it’s big in Britain (I am American), so a lot of Brink makes sense now. It was only with the recent SD interview video that I figured out Mirror’s Edge came out while the SMART system was already in development.
Parkour is intense though, because it’s all about personal achievement and self-improvement, same with freerunning. These guys have balanced muscles, immaculate senses of balance, no fear, and they stress mind as much as body.
Love it.
You can have your snipers, I’ll take all the best parkour artists in the world

I think this is what the marketing team had in mind. To elaborate, the Ark is the evolution of society in the new world. The Earth has changed and this spot is the (only?) land left that is habitable and prosperous. So the founders or originally settlers have set up their own order and have shunned others for self preservation or another unknown reason. The Revolution is the resistance ( obviously ) as they are attempting to survive like those suppressors in the Ark.
This at least would make sense to me, and this would be an easy cheesy slogan to advertise this great game. Kudos to SebaSOFT.

When I see the “Revolution” logo, I just think that Brink is the revolution of this genre of game.
On a side note, is it just me, or do any of you think of this:

I didn’t read the entire thread so I apologize, but:
®evolution obviously applies to the general story.
evolution in my opinion is the idea of trying to blend Single Player with Co-operative multiplayer and competitive multiplayer. Not to mention all of the mixed ideas that seem to make Brink a step above the other shooters on the market.
Blending SP with MP Co-op and Comp = pretty friggin’ original.
Having a character that treads over online and offline is rivaled by few games.
XP is a common trend now but really was pretty much started by SD
Customizable characters isn’t used enough in online shooters.
SMART system is mostly original, only rivaled by a few TPS games and Mirror’s Edge
Fairly original setting, local, and art style (which I hope more games strive for in the future, photo-realism is getting so boring)
Class Based gameplay with body types very interesting idea and really original for an FPS.
Heavy objective based gameplay that really hadn’t been done on the same level until SD came along.
All these combine to become what I hope will be a true evolution in the shooter genre that is becoming so stale as of late…

Evolution on account of the Ark founders creating a new order from the old world.
Add the R on account of the more recent and urgent pressures to once more change it.
