Quitters in ranked matches.

So you’re talking about removing access to ranked matches for those players?
Taking off a feature of a game, literally? I mean granted, ranked and stopwatch pub aren’t different at the core, only the level of the people you face is different, but removing access to a part of the game…

That’s like the equivalent of getting banned from a game without even cheating or hacking.

No I do not condone ragequitting or dropping your team, at all.

But if I have to leave in the middle of a ranked match multiple times because of some external reason, I’d like to not get penalized too much for it.

Yes you’re saying what most people think,
No it isn’t the only perspective of the matter.
First of all: Its a F2P title - BAN AWAY.

Secondly, that feature of the game does not ‘belong to them’. If you act like a dick you will get removed, what is the problem with that?

If you have to suddenly leave in a middle of ranked - shit happens - but one leave is not going to punish you much. What we are pushing for here is accumulative punishments, so that repeat offenders will get weeded out of the ranked population. They have no business there, and they only serve to spoil the game for everyone else.

If you check report-player function; it lists not only cheating/hacking but also griefing. Imo ragequiting and thus putting your team at a major disadvantage fits full well with griefing, and SHOULD BE PENALIZED. It already is! Its just that the punishments are terribly weak and toothless.

I’m not even gonna respond to that.

I would wager that SD would be hesitant to punish people harder than they do now due to the crash/disconnect issues people have reported for quite some time. They need to seriously lock down these issues before moving forward with harsher penalties. I would hope that people who get disconnects would barely be impacted and penalized but I honestly don’t know. I have servers that die on me almost every night. And I’m one of the lucky few who has almost no technical issues with the game.

So I agree with you on harsher penalties and with weeding out people who don’t care that they are screwing over a game for 9 other players. But I think SD is probably not going to do that until they finally put an emphasis on server/connection stability and making reconnects more reliable.

They could easily find out why someone left. TF2 (I think?) can tell the difference between someone crashing or losing connection (i.e. Time out error), and those who leave (i.e. user disconnect).

They could try and punish only the ones who disconnect, but not the ones who got a time out error/CTD/etc…

They can detect that somebody left. That’s not being discussed. It’s how people are getting disconnected or a server dying and them being penalized consistently for it. Or issues with trying to reconnect during the reconnect window to avoid being penalized. Sometimes that doesn’t work. Hence my post.

Quit 3 times in a day => Get set to Bronze 1 LOL.

Or alt+f4 I think that works too.

Here’s my idea. Some people in Poland like to punish drivers for bad parking in a symbolic way. They just leave a sheet of paper behind the wiper, with this printed on it:
http://img2.cda.pl/g/100493_57ea7ea08f18c99226590bfb78d6ea42.jpeg?z=1&w=150&h=150
It’s called a “penalty dick”. How about that? If you left ranked 3 times in one week, you’ll get this set up as your profile pic and can’t change it.

(neverplayseriou) #30

@Beryl and how will this affect people? I can also put up that picture as my steam profile pic just to fool around, not that anyone will care about someone’s profile pic and people in pubs wouldn’t even know what it’s supposed to mean.

Obvious sarcasm was apparently not obvious enough.

Either way, it could work out somehow. Except for a profile picture that is usually too small to see if people cared enough to look at it, the guy in question has a flag sticking out of his charatcer’s back saying something like “I am a d*ck, I leave my teammates hanging” or something
