Quit a year ago, now im back, impressions of what ive seen

Hello, a few of you might remember me from about a year before the time and soul sucking demon that is Korean MMOs consumed me.

Now im back, and ive noticed a few things that have always bugged me are better and others the same.

The good:
-Maps reworked
-Audio reworked
-Game feels smoother
-Less L33TH4X0RZ
-Fletcher was nerfed a bit

The Neutral
-Melee still feels wonky
-Team balance in casual is still a shitshoot
-Ammo and medics that reliably drop support things are still rare
-Machine pistols feel to have been nerfed significantly

The Bad
-Merc stacking is still the same cancer on every lobby, 3 artys spamming, two rhinos, four proxies, etc etc
-Fletchers bombs are still more effective than his weapons in most cases
-Semi auto rifles are still stupidly strong on fast classes like kira and aimee

Generally what have i missed and whats coming down the pipe in regards to these

I took a break for awhile so I can’t remember when some of this was changed exactly, but…

Sparks got nerfed (good news, imo)

Quick melee hotkey got fixed so it’s actually the quick slash now instead of the slow one. They also added a hotkey option for the slow one.

Thunder’s flash grenade got adjusted and nerfed so you don’t have time for a bathroom break when flashed anymore, unless the team has 3 Thunders spamming you.

Rhino is still played less than Redeye (very sad…he’s like a museum piece. He’s my favorite Merc and I don’t even play him very much. I hope they rework him, maybe give him a double speed sprint augment or something, or a melee OSOK with his minigun)

New Execution map

Mountains of other stuff, of course, but that’s all I can think of off the top of my head.

I don’t know if there’s ever going to be a fix for merc stacking. People play the mercs they like (or have unlocked) and some mercs are just more popular than others. (Proxy, Vaseline, etc)
I don’t think that’s “fixable” so to speak beyond limiting picks to one of each merc for each team which I would oppose vehemently as that would majorly upset the current meta.

i dont think you can fix merc stacks on pubs
but they can fix merc stacks with ranked.

First welcome back; next, I was nearly out for a year due to a pc crash but I bounced and I’m back on as well.

Bug fixes here are big changes (apart from my glorious 1.16fps due to DPC stacking).

Merc stacking can be attributed to new players using mercs on free rotation. Further, the choice imposed by the game of allowing only to use 3 mercs of choice for a particular game play and a particular map limits the type of mercs that can be used. In TF2, a class type can be limited because it’s the meta of the game. In playing public games, you’ll see a lot of players unaware of the team’s lack of cohesion by having 4 snipers hanging at the back of the map and no objective specialist to repair and move the EV. This is one of the more frustrating things that veteran players try to put across to the team, either by not playing objectively and just doing TDM or by augmenting the team’s necessity by either playing as medic and hoping that the FNGs are able to do their part and not be a bad sniper.

There are times that I just don’t care what the team needs and focus on my mission, but the most difficult is that when an overwhelming team is on the other side and you’re the only objective specialist capable of carrying the objective forward. And because SD has not gained the wisdom to conceal the level or at least make it less obvious, the stigma of underperforming or being unable to carry the team to victory is upon higher level players.

Try playing where your latency is over 280ms and if you’re over level 50, you’ll know what I mean.

I don’t know about that. Possibly make aura and skyhammer stackable because they are defaults but disallowing others to stack seems like it could work or at least be tested.

One thing as well is possibly adding more options as far as players per game. The more people in a game the more unbalanced it seems to be which is why i prefer 7v7 because even the extra person per team in 8v8 is a noticeable balance issue. I think the casual side would be drastically improved with the options being 6v6 and 7v7.
