I only ever use melee as a last resort if the enemy is right next to me and by that point they will probably have taken a fair amount of damage, so killing them with one swing is probably a little more effective than dancing around trying to get a second knife attack off.

Both, and depends…
Like Phantom + Stiletto + Chopper, allows him to insta-kill a Phoenix (102 Damage). And 2-hit kill a Rhino (204 Total Damage). Unbelievable. But the attack animation is kinda slow on Right Mouse Click… To kill a Rhino, is like 2 seconds.

I have a Proxy with Cricket Bat + Quick Slash, 2-hit kill a Sawbonez (110 Total Damage, in 1 second or less), and a Thunder with 3 hits (165 Total Damage, in +/- 1.5s) and finally a Rhino with 4 hits, should take 2 seconds.

Depends on what weapon and augments are avalible for the merc. One weapon + augments can suits better than other.

I’m definitely not a melee guy, but I’ve seen a lot of those…‘ninja’ style players prefer Quick Slash.

Chopper is rather good with enhancing already good damage like the Katana’s stabbing which makes it able to one shot Phoenix and Vassili.

But, Quick Slash is far more superior with DPS increase and reducing penalty whenever you miss the swing.

RMB with Stiletto does 85damage, adding 15% from chopper to it should result in 97.75 damage.

Shotguns make Chopper redundant.

More damage! No need for quick slash because: phantom is not meant to be fast but sneaky, it is better more damage then less, he already has left click quick slash, so he would have two quick slashes, one does more damage, one less, why would he need both the player would then only use right click and no left.
