Quick knife setting is actually the slow knife

(Amerika) #21

I pointed this out on day one to the devs and they just sort of shrugged. I brought it up again later and they again shrugged. It’s hilarious to me that something called “quick knife” is actually super slow and not the one you ever want to use in a fast paced game. I haven’t had it bound in a long time but I’d probably use it if it did the quick slash.

(MarsRover) #22

It’s sad and hilarious at the same time when spectating people trying to use it either in combat or just for gibbing. And missing most of the time because it locks movement…

(vdll) #23

What do you need in order to fck up melee mechanics? One melee-oriented merc and a bunch of butthurts

(MarsRover) #24

Which merc is that?

(gg2ez) #25

There is no such thing as a melee oriented merc in DB. As of now, all mercs play better when using a gun as opposed to melee.

(vdll) #26

As of now, sure. Before Phantom nerf though, he was melee oriented, at least the most melee oriented of them all.

P.S. now that he is on free rotation, I expect another nerf, lul

it not hard, it not a pain in the ass, but currently quick knife is probably the least used button for everyone. i think ive used it one when i rounded a corner face first into a sparks with my sidearm out, or maybe a few times as a phantom behind vasilis

point is, we may as well just remove the button or make it useful

(Apofenas) #31

I always wondered why that quick melee attack wasn’t made like in COD. I mean use left hand to hit somebody with knife fast, but with reduced damage or if it’s bat or sword with weapon itself. I honestly don’t see any situation where i would use current quick slash button.

I use the ‘quick (slow) slash’ bind frequently. The only time I use the actual quick slash is if I’m sprinting with my knife and run into somebody. I refuse to constantly do a 3 key combo when one will do, even if it’s riskier.

(Naonna) #33

give bind command and instructions to change ‘slow slash’ into an actual ‘quick slash’ … thanks.

(RedJets) #34

Really can’t believe this was even argued. Quick slash should be the quick knife, not the long one. Or the game should give us a choice. Or allow keybinding for both. In such a fast twitch shooter, doing something with one click rather than three is highly desired. I think someone was just trolling.

(gg2ez) #35

Dood. In DB the most common scenario to pull out a knife is when you’re finishing someone - that is not a situation where you can justify your stance by saying “because DB is a fast, twitch shooter”, you can make that argument about knife combat, but I fcking dare you to win a knife fight whereby you have to switch to your knife, attack, and switch back to your primary every single time you want to slash someone. I don’t even care, go ahead switch it to the quick attack - I don’t give a fck, but when your reason is “maaaah twitch” or “three keys is cumbersome”, you’re just being f*cking lazy.

Uhhh, so you fully admit it’s a slower process, and thereby riskier. Ok, thanks for confirming that.

As for calling people lazy, that’s just ridiculous. So the developers made the bind for lazy people, did they? And people who aren’t lazy will always opt for the longer route? I think you just like arguing.

The bind is already in the game, and for good reason, since practically every shooter out there has one. The difference here is that it is broken. But you have gone out of your way to bash people who would like the bind fixed, since 1 click is faster than 3, and it’s also easier on the fingers.

I suppose you will continue to use the 3 stroke method after it’s fixed, lest you be called lazy…?

Are you reading? I don’t have a problem with the bind being fixed, I’m just fcking amused to dust when someone says “it’s so I don’t have to go through the cumbersome process of pressing three buttons,” and I’m not saying that people use the bind are lazy either, I’m saying that you’re fcking lazy for saying it’s cumbersome to press three buttons.

Yes, I will continue to use the 3 stroke method, but not because “lest I be called lazy”, because once you become used to it, you don’t have to rely on automation - it’s quicker when you do it by muscle memory.

(Herr_Hanz) #38

stop arguing and make them fix it.

I see. You’re calling ME lazy simply because I dared to express my opinion, having nothing to do with the actual usage of the bind or beefs with having it fixed. Basically, a personal attack.

So you’re just trolling. lol Well, you were entertaining for a bit, I guess. /nuff said

Yes, Quick knife swaps the player to their melee weapon, attacking with an RMB stab and swapping back to their originally held weapon.

My guess is that the idea was to not make it an instant win senario and for the stabber and the person being stabbed having an equal chance at winning since the RMB attacks do a lot of damage but have a huge delay, but before their nerf after Phantom was announced where during that delay the player could aim their stab accordingly.

Still, Why not just swap weapons? I don’t even use my Q and E keys to use my abilities.
