Quick Join & Server Browser Issues

(shibbyuk) #1

The last couple of weeks, whenever I try to auto-join an objective-mode game it keeps putting me into an empty server.

Also, the text filter doesn’t seem to work properly in the server browser. e.g. none of the following work:

[ul]
[li]Min
[/li][li]Min Level
[/li][li]“Min Level”
[/li][/ul]

Something similar was working fine for me, what exactly did you put in the filter box?

Oddly, the quoted search does seem to be working now; I swear it wasn’t before but maybe I’m just losing my mind. The non-quoted strings above definitely don’t work as you’d expect, though. See screenies.

you aren’t losing your mind, i remember some occasions when it didn’t work for me either, no matter what i typed in

I always have to use quotes now, yes it could be a little smarter, but it allows for more granularity than the old one, so for now I’m enjoying it.

Something like: “EU”-“8vs8”-“Max”-“map:Underground”-“empty”-“full”-“password”

But like I said previously, a small how to guide would be nice, Dave?

Since this thread is also called “Server Browser Issues” I feel like I’m not completely wrong with posting this here.
I noticed that several servers show a player-count higher than the actual possible player-count.

I also noticed that these “overpopulated” servers don’t register as full for the filters (i.e. they show in the list even if you have the “Not Full” option checked".

Here’s the cheatsheet:

[ul]
[li]Use + to only show servers that include the term (e.g. +8vs8)
[/li][li]Use - to hide servers that include the term (e.g. -US)
[/li][li]Use " around terms with spaces (e.g. “US East”)
[/li][li]Use + and - before " for terms with spaces (e.g. -“US East”)
[/li][li]Use map:name to filter by map name (e.g. -map:victoria or +map:bridge)
[/li][li]Use mode:name to filter by game mode (e.g. -mode:stopwatch)
[/li][li]Use is:full to filter out full servers (e.g. -is:full)
[/li][li]Use is:empty to filter out empty servers (e.g. -is:empty)
[/li][li]Use is: passworded (without the space!) to filter out passworded servers (e.g. -is: passworded)
[/li][li]Use is:favorite to only show favorited servers (e.g. +is:favorite)
[/li][li]All terms are case-insensitive (i.e. -US and -us do the exact same thing, as do -“US East” and -“uS EAsT”)
[/li][/ul]
Any terms that are not prefixed with + or - are do an OR filter. For example, if your filter is 8vs8 7vs7, the filter will show servers that have either ‘8vs8’ or ‘7vs7’ in the name, and all other servers will be filtered out. You could then use e.g. 8vs8 7vs7 +“US East” -is:passworded to show all 8vs8 or 7vs7 servers in the US that are not passworded.

But we can’t do something like:

(8vs8, 7vs7)+(map:victoria, map:bridge)

Is this somehow solved already? I have not read the whole thread (completely), but what i get at first glimbs is some config options, which does not affect this issue. This issue affects me since months. Many times after the 3rd try it actually works and puts me at a server. I also tried waiting at that empty lobby, but noone connected. It would be cool to know what is happening here. This is certainly a weird bug.
