Quick facts about Trade-Up costs and Spring Cleaning - Credit expenses and how much you can save

(SzGamer227) #1

So I figured all this stuff out on my own time, and I thought I’d share because I’m not selfish.

I’ve prepared a spreadsheet for your viewing pleasure, with information about trade up costs, including total fees, the amount of lead cards you need to make them from scratch, and how many credits you need to guarantee getting a card using Equipment Cases and Trade-Ups.

Here’s a quick rundown if it isn’t self-explanatory:
The yellow section pertains to the standard Trade-Up costs.
The blue section below it pertains to the Spring Cleaning event.

The first column has all the card rarities listed from Iron to Cobalt, with the costs entailed for creating that card in the same row. If you want to know about the costs of making a Bronze card, look in the row labeled “Bronze”.

The next two columns (under “Trade Up Cost” and “Spring Cleaning Cost”) are the basic costs found in-game: The number and rarity of the cards needed, and the trade-up fee for making the transaction.

The next three columns (under “Net Cost”) are what you might be interested in.

The “Lead Cards” column is the number of Lead Cards you would need to make the indicated card from scratch.

The “Total Fees” column is the amount of credits that would be spent if you did the above and turned a bunch of Lead Cards into the rarity of card indicated.

The “Max. Cost” column is the number of credits you would need to guarentee getting a card of the indicated rarity if you started with nothing, bought a Standard Equipment Case for every Lead Card you would need, and had to pay the highest possible amount in fees because every single case yielded a Lead.

For higher rarity cards that involve opening more cases, this value becomes an overestimate, since the likelihood of receiving Lead-or-higher cards from the cases is very high, saving you money in trade up fees and the amount of cases you would need to buy.

If you want to keep track, the total you end up spending on a certain rarity of card can be found by taking the Max. Cost of said card and subtracting the Max. Cost of any lower-order cards that you receive form cases (that are higher than Lead). For example, if you are making a Bronze card and you open a case that gives you an Iron card instead of a Lead, that saves you 3.5k in credits. Woohoo!
***Please read the bottom three paragraphs of the above spoiler for details about what “Max. Cost” means if you have any questions or otherwise about the values presented. Thanks.

I’ll try to answer any questions or concerns in the comments. Hope y’all find this a bit useful. Cheers.

Shouldn’t the max cost in spring cleaning for an iron card be 2400, not 3400 :#
Nice work though!

Fixed! Thanks for catching that quickly! ^.^"

I mean, is it…Permanent?

Close, it only takes 3 bronzes to make a silver loadout right now though, you still have it listed as 4.

Checkout my Reddit post and my Google Docs spreadsheet for a more comprehensive calculation. Though I only tried to find the average costs, I never got the minimum/maximum since it’s RNG based average is much more useful.

Ouh. I thought it’s a permanent reduction in costs. Well, seems not so good now tbh.

Depends on the person and the number of leads they have I guess. It is an event, that’s all.

Thanks for making this! Glad to see people actually taking an interest in something in this game

Personally I am not a fan of using 1,000 credits as the value of a lead, even if it is the cost of the cases. The minimum value of a result it other rng systems is never the cost of the box/key/create(total price).

There have been a lot of threads about card values though.

Noooo why couldn’t this last for next merc I want an cobalt on the cheap

Updated main post with accurate costs for Silver+ cards and a savings column.

1 Lead = 1000 Cr is indeed a bad starting assumption because ultimately the price of a case must be equal to the total value of its content, therefore:

0.8xV_Lead + 0.15xV_Iron + 0.03xV_Bronze + 0.015xV_Silver + 0.004xV_Gold + 0.001xV_Cobal = 1000 Cr

But starting with Lead = 1000 and applying the trade up relationships gives a total case value of 4360 Cr:

If you adjust the value of a Lead card until the value of a case is down to 1000 Cr, you get a very different picture:

Now I think there is a flaw in my own logic because technically the relative values between rarities should not the same if they are dropped randomly from a case or traded up: traded up cards should be “more valuable” than random drop cards of the same rarity because they are statistically more likely to be a desired loadout since you get to pick the merc it is for. However I don’t see any way of factoring that in properly…
