Questions regarding making a trick jumping map

(lispider) #1

Ok so many people might not be interested or care to help someone making a trickjumping map but yeah thats what I am attempting to do is make a continuation of maniac mansion but alot harder alot more insane.

Questions I have though are this,

Is it possible to use a different texture besides the ice top layer and have the same physics?

Can you import 3ds max files into Radiant but not as md3’s as the actual wireframes?

Regarding flags, I have posted a few times I got the flags kind of working…
Flag 5 causes u to spawn back at flag 2 I think any odd numbered flags do this…
Please read my other posts if interested in helping me solve my script problems.

But is anyone familiar with the maniac mansion flags script?

Regarding curves, say I want to make a tornado ice slide… can I do this in radiant? I have been messing with curves alot and cant clip excess off the curves or have overlappign parts from multipile pieces to make a bigger curve…

Big thanks to Ifurita for helping me out and putting up with my nagging in IRC :stuck_out_tongue:

Textures and physics are two different things. They are not related in any way. Shaders are a different thing since you can somehow slightly modify some physics with a shader (slick being an exemple).

No wireframes afaik

Yes you can do whatever you want in patches in radiant. You can’t really clip patches (as in cutting the patches if that’s what you’re referring to). You can align patches together but you have to make sure the patches have the same number of rows/colums so the vertices will be on the same X/Y/Z. Hard to explain in text… But it takes some practice and lots of patience. Actually, working with patches that twist on more than one axis can get pretty hairy but it can be done.

yeah I have started doing work with curves and cylinders deleting rows and columns etc as fas messing with patches even though I havent done alot with it (ive only been making my first map for 4 days) I think I get what u means since ive experimented with twisting curves  I will have to take a look at it some more. I think doign some of the curves part would be alot easier in 3fsmax and importing them just due to the tool sets differences.

and I discovered making my own shader already and got it to work quite well

If anyone would like to take a peek at my map just ask me to post a link
