[Questions+Opinions] Balancing system

Hello everyone,
I am here today with my opinions about balancing system in game. I am not an old player here but I am very active since I started playing this game and so far I noticed that balancing system isn’t that good. On public servers a lot of players are saying “Unbalanced teams…” and so on and I think that they are right. This game lacks a good balancing system which will make teams more equally. Here are my opinions about that balancing system:

Balancing system for making teams:
That system is one of the worst systems that I have ever seen in all MMO games that I played. It looks like it makes teams completely random. Few times at the beginning of the match I pressed TAB to open scoreboard just to see what levels are in team and there was something to see :slight_smile: . In one team were players that was lvl 20+ and in other you had few players that were less than lvl 5, with others that were around lvl 10. Right at the beginning of match I knew that this won’t last for long and it didn’t. Match was finished in about 4 minutes and it was terrible. Lot of players says that level doesn’t matter but that’s not true, because new players (especially players with lvl less than 3) doesn’t even know how to use Merc abilities and if you get with those in team - well that’s not good for you. I know that they should be playing in special servers (servers that allows levels till 6), but they are still joining to regular public servers. In my opinion balancing system should defenitely take in considoration:

  • Player’s level
  • Player’s accuarcy
  • Player’s playing hours with mercs that are currently in his/hers squad

Shuffling system:
That system appears to shuffle teams also on random. I remember a match in which shuffling passed and after shuffling teams become even more unblanaced. Then we called shuffling again and it passed and teams were a bit better balanced than in the beginning. Problem with that system is that very rarely passes because other team doesn’t want to shuffle teams because they have an advantage and even when that vote passes there is a big chance that teams won’t be balanced (they will be just remixed on radnom and nothing more). So, shuffling vote should be easier to pass (it should require less votes and less cooldown untill calling for next shuffle) and it should balance teams.

Auto-balacing teams:
This is a feature that is missing in this game. This game should have auto-balance teams which will activate when teams are not equally in number of players (for example when there is 5 vs 7). Since upper mentioned systems are not that good in game, players tend to leave if shuffle can’t pass and then you get a match in which you have 3 players vs 7 players. In those cases auto-balancing system will move 2 players from one team to another but those 2 players should be picked by a balacing system so that we don’t experience unblanaced teams again (but this time in skills). Auto-balance should be a feature that will trigger automatically, without any vote, when there are un equally teams.

Question for DEVS:
Do you have any plans with improving balancing & shuffling system? Will those improvements come in next update?

I know that all of you experience all those problems mentioned upper and something should be undertaken in those matters. Please comment this discussion and also give your opinions what should also be improved with balancing system. You can also post your experiences, pictures of unbalanced teams, bad shuffling and so on.

accuracy and level is the worst way of messure
team are usually even, of course sometimes you will get uneven team but that is a thing in every game.
there isnt really good way of balance with that player base and server browser

teams usually look like that, 1 high level, few 10/30 lvl tryhards and then you have bad players and newcomers

also cmm is coming

but if you want high level competitive, make 5 man team and look for other team that wants to play

Hmm. Well maybe they should import efficiency (like in World of Tanks). Do you have any suggestions?

:smiley: Yes, they are even but only in numbers of players in each team. I would say: “teams are sometimes even”.

I agree. Since players can choose in which server they want to play over server browser, making a good balacing system is hard but I still think that it is possible, at least a little bit to improve.

Oh, and here is a picture of a match few minutes ago. Note that this is regular public server and look how many players with less than level 6 are there. Those players should be playing in their servers (Max level 6 servers). Either there aren’t any servers for them or they don’t know about those servers. Either is bad. There are total 10 players of maximum 16 that could played in special servers (Max level 6 servers). So, this tells something, right?

cmm will use xp/min

Well, that’s something. However, I don’t know how will this works if you are playing mercs that you aren’t good with them. In my case, I like to play with medics and I think that I am good with them, but if I took sniper class than I am terrible. What will happen in that case? Will CMM still use my global XP/MIN rate or?

the xp/min will be an average in certain period of time if you play badly it will get smaller and if you play more then the average it will increase

Wouldn’t be better that XP/MIN calculates for each merc separately?

imagine having a high a mmr (match making rank) with your usual squad you have a rhino mission and you decide to do it and you find your self in a team with no medic .
and how would your point work with the squad considring that the squad are made after the player have been found
