---------- TO SPLASH DAMAGE ---------------
Splash Damage, you have always been good to PC gamers, and we’re grateful for it. We’ve stuck with you because you seem to represent us well. It’s the old “games made for gamers by gamers” addage - you know what works, and as a result, we’ve had a blast playing your projects.
With this foray into the console market however, as I have said before, I’m sensing alot of change.
Naturally it’s to be expected, and to survive you have no doubt had to make some decisions that people will not like, but I think it’s time (as Badman promised) that you kindly filled us in on those missing pieces of information - the ones you’ve so cleverly stuck into the “we’ll answer that later” category.
You’re a matter of days away from launch. There’s no need for answering them later. You know the answers now, and we’d like to be in on it too!
None of us want Brink to turn out to be a Wolf(enstein) in sheep’s clothing™ (pardon the pun again), but until we get answers to the things we have asked, this is the fear many of us have.
Anyway, my purpose for starting this thread is not to bash Splash Damage. Like I said, you have always been good to PC gamers.
I started this thread simply to collate the PC questions that have not YET been answered, so you, Splash Damage, can answer them all in one place.
Would really appreciate you doing so. Thank you.
---------- TO COMMUNITY ---------------
What this thread is DEFINITELY NOT is an open invitation for fanboys to rant or defend their favourite developer. Please, if you have something to ask that hasn’t already been answered, add it by way of a reply, keep it civil and directed to Splash Damage to answer.
I’ll edit this post and list the questions below as they’re asked for convenience.
---------- THE QUESTIONS ---------------
Q: Please explain how the connection system (to servers/players) will work on PC as opposed to the connection system on consoles. How different are they?
Q: How will the PC dedicated server files be distributed and to whom?
Q: Brink is said to blur the line between offline and online gaming, and it’s possible for a player to effectively jump into your game. How is this achieved, from a connection point of view?
Q: With regards to anti-cheat and things like demo recording. How will Brink lend itself to the competitive PC scene? Are features like demo recording even available?
Q: If a command line console is present in the PC version, does Brink allow the possibility to script it to bind key combinations, class selections and the like?
Q: How do the player name and accounts work? For example will it be like ETQW where you register your game name and its unique and you cant change it? (from Leki)
Q: What will be the limits to the FOV (field of view) that you can have in the game? (from NeoRussia)
Q: Would there be a customizable autoexec.cfg like in previous SD titles and will any specific commands be limited/blocked such as low picmip etc? (from NeoRussia)
