question regarding omnibot and brushes with ai_nosight

(twt_thunder) #1

does this texture work? If I put such a brush around bushes the bot wont see you?

Those shaders only work for RtcW Singleplayer.
They might still be present in ET, however their function isn’t, or better, there is no support for them.

You might want to contact the omnibot team directly for future implementation.

Regards

EDIT: Just out of curiosity, what do you want to do, where you need that?

This was for the not finished AI ET was going to have, OB doesn’t use it. Legacy removed that code btw.

You need to make you texture solid through shader scripting if you don’t want the bots to see/shoot through it :confused:

As for breakable stuff, bot will not shoot them by default, but this behavior can be enabled through the GM scripting in OnBotJoin with:
bot.TargetBreakableDist = 90.0;

You can as well restrict the range of weapons affected with further scripting, if you want :slight_smile: Just ask!

Hi. It is a good thing that you are aware of the fact that your custom map might be used by server admins who put bots into the map. In other words, it is important to be aware of that bots might be used in your map. As a consequence, the map must be bot-friendly. For example, bots do not like very narrow corridors (they can get stuck) and it is hard (impossible?) for bots to perform all kinds of trick-jumps to reach all areas of the map. This is something that I have learn just recently, and nowadays I always try to create custom maps that are kind to both humans and bots.
