[Question] Friendly fire and disguised operatives

(Galaxy) #1

I am playing operative at the moment and I am trying to understand all the rules about disguises. If I’m getting the right information, while disguised, if you don’t fire or use any objectives, nobody can remove your disguise unless it’s an operative that used homing beacon on you (iron sighted you for a while).

BUT, my question is: if friendly fire is on and they shoot at you, do they get negative points as if they were damaging a team-mate? (or at least the illusion of getting them)

Thanks to anybody that can answer this.

Your disguise can be spotted by another Operative and also by the player you disguised as, “He has my face! Enemy in disguise!” Friendly fire causes negative points whether you are disguised or not.

He is asking what happens if someone on the other team shoots you without removing your disguise.

No, you they don’t get negative points. And they will spot you when they shoot at you.

One thing I’m curious about is buffing disguised operatives. While disguise, I’ve seen enemies run up to me…pause for a second, and then run of… and I assume they were buffing me, though I actually didn’t receive any buff (which would be interesting). I’m assuming they lost a supply pip though!
Would be cool if comm hack could actually let me hear them talking and communicate with them over the mic. (Feed them bad intel, or run around asking for buffs…lol. Not very useful, but would be funny.)

You mean if they use homing beacon, or do they have any prior indication that you might be a disguised operative?

So that means that they know you are an enemy when they shoot at you even without looking at the exp points?

enemy operatives cant spot you

least when i playy an op i have never spotted one and vice versa

(BiigDaddyDellta) #6

You have to be knocked down to be unmasked unless it is by another opperative using the homing beacon ability. in the fray someone would really have to be on their toes to catch a stray bullet striking a teammate and not recieving negetive points. I would say the satisfaction of not losing XP would over rule the minds curiosity to further pursue you as an enemy.

One interesting thing i note from a friendly OP in disguise., His health bar assumes full status. Many times i’ve been about to health buff my operative only for him to suddenly appear to NOT need the buff, cos he’s in disguise.
BUT, it still let me buff them…
Shouldn’t medic be able to see the actual health not the disguises health

Be warned, Combat Intuition will still trigger if you aim towards an enemy while not being on radar even while disguised. I have killed many Operatives due to them trying to target me with Homing Beacon while they were disguised.

To my knowledge…there is nothing telling them that you are the enemy (except combat intuition in cases). In my case, my teammate told me that he had been killed by an op, so I was keeping my eye out. I saw the guy run past me…I knew my teammate was elsewhere…and so I just shot him.

He died rather quickly, so I’m not sure if he loses the disguise immediately after I put a bullet into him… but right when I started shooting at him, or right after he died, my character shouted out that he found an enemy in disguise.

melee anyone suspicious you see and if you get points, you’ve got a winner!

Thanks for all the answers. But I also want to ask if the enemy gets a Combat Intuition warning whenever you point at them or only when you iron sight them? There seems to be conflicting posts on this matter.

(tangoliber) #12

Just putting your crosshairs on them does it. You don’t need to iron sight. I’ve tested this with a friend.

If this is the case then something is seriously bugged or at least inconsistent. I did some testing regarding this a while back so see what exactly would happen if you triggered CI while disguised.

The way I tested it was I had my friend who I was talking to on VOIP be on the other team. As an operative I’d steal a uniform from a teammate of his far from where he currently was. What happened then is I would immediately appear on his radar regardless of how far away from him I was because I was now considered a friendly. There was no way for me to leave his radar too.

So, since I was on the radar, when I snuck up on him without him seeing me I would never once trigger Combat Intuition. This was tested many times always with the same result.

Having said that, I’ve experienced a lot of strange things happening in games regarding Combat Intuition. Like having what appears to be a covert ops trigger my combat intuition which should be impossible. Also I’ve had situations where my combat intuition is triggered so I spin around only to see a wall behind me with no possible way for an enemy to have been there. This seems to happen most often when I’m in disguise. I’m starting to wonder if CI strangeness has to do with laggy players not immediately showing up on the radar, which would trigger CI then.

It would be nice to have a dev confirm how it’s intended to work while disguised since there’s a lot of confusion.
