Question for PC players about lag

(tangoliber) #1

I wanna make the jump from PS3 to PC, mainly for servers and server browser (Host advantage and matchmaking really hurts consoles). My question is this:

Assuming you find a server with a good ping (and I realize there aren’t many active servers), is there lag when buffing/reviving people? The issue I have on PS3 is the delay when trying to give out a syringe, which sometimes leaves me standing around in the middle of chaos for several seconds. Also, I can’t give adrenaline to someone when they are moving…They’ve got to pause for a few seconds, or move towards me, which messes up my ability to time it right.

Also, has anyone seen any Japanese servers?

“KFC” is the goto BRINK server for japan. Also, check out “BRINK Japan” steam group. I have 2 members from my clan who are part of the Japanese brink community. You won’t read about it here but I’d say the japanese players have a different experience altogether with BRINK. Maybe an interview with their community leaders is in order

And yes, with good ping you shouldn’t experience the problems as you described in your post. 120 is a good cut off. I take it you are aware of the baggage that comes with switching from ps3 to pc brink.

The PC version has very little network lag assuming both you and the server are on a good connection.

The delay you’re describing might not be network lag though; on the PC version there is a delay between the time that you look at someone and the time that you “lock-on” (the blue outline) to the person and are able to buff/revive them. I assume this delay is intentionally part of the game.

It is very annoying because a lot of times you end up running around like an idiot in dangerous situations because you’re trying to get the game to give you a lock on someone so you can buff or revive them. It’s like the game waits for a few hundred ms while you just stand dumbly looking at the person to make sure you actually intended to look at them.

The delay on PS3 occurs even in ‘single player’ (i.e. not connected to PSN) games. It seems to be an issue with the game as Cynix suggests.

Many times, I’ve had to stop pressing triangle and start pressing again to get an action going to buff myself, or square to buff/revive someone else.

the lock on “lag” is in fact one of the major issues of the game itself. not only is there a delay, but often the system targets something you dont want to target.

for example… you want to buff someone when the map starts or while a respawn wave, but instead you run to the command post.

i know this has been mentioned several times, but i want to make sure its not forgotten and adressed asap.
