Question about support xp

(LostGeneration) #1

Hello, I’m a bit confused by the different xp types. It’s pretty unclear which actions give which xp, and there are missions that require getting a large amount of a particular xp type. I’m guessing that yellow xp messages are game xp, for doing objectives, and that mission is reasonably easy now.

What has me stumped is my current mission, to get 8,800 support xp. I’m assuming support xp is from the blue xp messages I get for giving health packs or ammo packs. The trouble is, I’m only getting 10 xp each time I do this, and healing people with Aura’s healing station doesn’t seem to give support xp at all! The mission is a bronze one that only gives 500 credits, so it’s obviously not supposed to take this long to get support xp, but the most I’ve managed in one match is 500. What am I doing wrong?

You get more XP from ammo packs when people are low on ammo. You get additional XP for getting a direct hit with your ammo pack on a teammate.

Also, you get more support XP from revives, generally, then you do from healing.

Generally, you need to use more revives, restoring health and ammo to players(you get more xp when someone really needs ammo or health) or using heartbeat sensor etc.

To get support(blue) XP:

  • Revive people as Medic or help them up as any other merc.
  • Throw ammo/medic packs as often as possible(preferably direct hits as these give more XP)
  • Deploy a healing/ammo station near your teammates(I’m not sure, but I think this way of farming support XP is less effective than throwing packs)
  • Stay near your teammates. You get some support XP(mostly insignificant) for doing so, but this also means that you will be able to help as soon as they need it.

Another thing I like to do as Sawbonez is revive everyone to ~90% HP and then throw a medic pack to them. This way I get revive + heal XP from every downed teammate.

Thanks for the advice, I did get the mission done. Reviving people does give much more than healing or ammo.

Feels counter intuitive at first, since keeping people from dying at all is ideal. But from the other player’s perspective, not being revived is much more frustrating than not being healed.

I would also recommend that Arty and Skyhammer both throw out 3 ammo packs EVERY TIME they spawn.

One of the packs is for you, so you don’t have to worry about ammo when you get into the fight.

The other two packs are for the next spawn wave.

All charcters spawn with less than their maximum ammo. So those packs will get picked up pretty quickly.

Having those packs at the spawn makes your team stronger and it’s basically free XP.

Plus, by the time you reach the fight you will probably have almost completed one cooldown so you’ll still have packs for the troops at the front.

There is really no downside to this.

Combat XP = red
Game mode XP = yellow
Support XP = blue

Dropping an ammo case gives 10 XP. However, if someone picks it up, you get up to 60 XP, depending on how much ammo they have left. If you hit them with the case, you get even more. If you give ammo to multiple players in a short time, you can get up to 120 XP.

Best thing as Skyhammer is to drop cases immediately after (re)spawning. Anyone who picks it up gives you 60 XP, plus the 10 XP from dropping it.

Also, helping up players gives 60 XP. Healing people also gives XP.

How sure are you about that? I feel like it’s always depending on how much ammo they have left, and not the ammo-drop-rate.

a properly placed heal-station rakes in the XP, especially if the friendly Rhino always retreats in time and leaves you able to revive the less cautious peeps.

Whenever I have the support mission, I always just throw down heal-stations and sit back with the shotty.
