Question about fitting->Another question

(Fishy) #1

I’d like to know how to fit a texture on a brush like this?:>

(kamikazee) #2

I guess there’s not really a shortcut to fit a texture to a brush like that.

Your best option is rotating the texture until it fits, using the Surface Inspector. Select the surface, press S and modify.

Okay, but if I do it like that
Will happen :p, any idea how to fix that?

I think you would have to make a new texture for the sloped bits, if you look on parts of Goldrush source you will see on angled railings they use a different texture that been rotated and resized to give a nice fit.

You could also with how you got it now try out the horizontal and vertical stretch in the surface inspector and with trial and error maybe you can get it to be nice fit that way too, maybe try this first. I seem to remember reading something about this subject somewhere but can’t remember.

So where’s this vertical stretch?, couldn’t find from surface inspector:/, thanks for fast answers tho!:o

(-SSF-Sage) #6

Many times making textures axial (from surface insp.). In most planes this will give you a really nicely fitting seemless texturing. For a patch using ctrl shift n (press it so many times until you get it right), will give you a nice texturing in most places, and can be fitting to the axial on the normal brushes too. Sometimes you just need to change it by hand.

Same place were you used the rotate function, in radiant 1.5 it called stretch but in radiant 1.4 it’s named H/V scale but yeah either way it’s in the surface inspector (S).

(Fishy) #8

Oh thanks alot, didn’t know about that. Just found another reason to use 1.5.^^

The stretching is really alot of easier to use in 1.5.:>

Now I got another problem:
After compiling the map this will happen:

I’m using 1.4 to compile the map.

(Violator) #10

I’ve had this too - it seems to be due to rounding errors, just have to keep experimenting with stretch/rotate until it works, which may leave it looking wrong in the editor…

Just install gtkradiant 1.5 and it’ll work, atleast worked for me.:>
