Question about Competitive placement matches

I haven’t played competitive for too long and I’m only just getting back in the game, but… how does the competitive placement match work? This is only my second competitive season but my placement matches seem odd, it always takes over 15m, too often 4v5 and is usually against golds and with teammates of a singular gold master or elite operative(this only happened once) and filled in with unranked players who… often kill me, run into my aoe abilities or ask for ammo as arty :slight_smile: _ (im not complaining by the way I know why its like this, but I just want to know how everyone elses placement matches go)_

While you’re unranked, DB doesn’t seem to consider your ranking at all. So for the duration of your placements, the game seems see an unranked level 100 player the same as an unranked level 7 player, which ends in a lot of weird unpredictable matches.
Unranked players also don’t count towards the average ranking of a team, meaning a team with 4 bronze-skill level unranked players and one gold master would still get the average ranking of gold master, so the amount you rank up or derank can be a bit off, though it’s usually minor.

I have no problem getting into ranked matches quickly while I’m unranked, so I don’t think your delay is related to it.

Is that the reason why 4 player unranked can get grouped with Cobalt Elite against all golds on the other team?
