Question about abilities / ranks

OK, so for the first 4 levels, we can only get R1 abilities (which are Universal Abilities.)

However, let’s say later on I want to have more class abilities. Can I sell those universal abilities and buy class ones? Is it possible to have a character that only has 1-2 Universal abilities, for instance? Or are we forced to keep 4 R1 abilities?

If you are playing 5v5s or 8v8s with a clan, then you will most likely want to get all the Universal abilities, and all of the abilities for your class…

However, if you are playing 2v2s, you might opt not to get many of the universal abilities if you can…and instead get key abilities for multiple classes. The benefit of this would mean that you can switch classes in game and be more flexible. I can do without several of the Universal abilities, so it could give me space for making a flexible 2v2 character if I didn’t have to purchase them in the first four levels, or if I could sell them later and buy class abilities.

It’s been said a million times before
To change an ability you already have the procedure is, sell all abilities, drop a level, buy back the abilities you want
If you don’t want to keep doing this then create a new character and spec him out differently

Thanks, but you didn’t fully understand. My question is a little more complicated. I’ll try my best to explain.

I’m talking about building a character that is impossible to build as you level up.

For example, in Levels 1-4 you can only get R1 abilities.

That means 4 of these:
Battle Hardened (R1)
Combat Intuition (R1)
Grenade Shooting (R1)
Sense of Perspective (R1)
Sprinting Grenade (R1)
Sprinting Reload (R1)
Supply Max Increase (R1)

But let’s say that you don’t want to spend 4 abilities slots on these? Maybe I’d like to only get Battle Hardened and Supply Max Increase. Instead of getting all those universal abilities, I might want to get more abilities for 2 classes so that I can switch between them.
When I am leveling up, I have to spend 4 ability slots on these… But my question is, if I sell all my abilities later on, do I still have to buy back 4 R1 abilities from this list, or can I use those spots on R2 abilities instead?

Maybe it’s not possible…but you gotta admit…the answer to this question hasn’t been said a million times before.

This

The reason for introducing you slowly to abilities is so you aren’t overwhelmed
Once you get to the next rank you can mix and match how you please

That’s cool.

In that case, I assume that we can have as many R2, R3, R4 abilities as we want…but can only have one R5 ability?

The reason I assume that is because you would drop from level 20 to level 19 after selling all of your abilities. Since you must be at level 20 to buy a R5 ability, that would mean that you could only re-purchase up to R4 abilities while you are at level 19…and you would get your R5 ability once you hit level 20 again.

Sure, but as you said previously
What’s to stop you “saving” ability points until you reach level 20, then you can get 2 R5’s

Because to respec you need to drop a level. Drop to 19, and no R5 abilities are available to you. Basically, you only level to 20 once, and if you respec, you can’t have any R5 abilities.

Well, I think he is right. He is talking about saving abilities, not re-specing. For some reason, I didn’t think we could “Save abilities”… I figured we had to unlock one each time we leveled up.

If you save them…then once you get to level 20, you could buy several R5s. Or so it would seem.
