…before I bash my proverbial head against a wall, is it possible to mix or change the construction-type state for a constructable object between stages?

I know I can use one multi-stage constructable to allow for a gun emplacement to be built, then reinforcements to be built around the gun emplacement to help protect the gunner.

Can I use either fancy scripting to change the gun emplacement to ‘any explosive harms’ mode when the reinforcements are in place, but back to ‘satchel/TNT’ mode when the reinforcements are blown away? I.E. Let the enemy team simply blast away the gunners cover, but not the entire gun emplacement.

Also, would it be possible to, for instance, make one constructable that ‘opens up’ others? I.E. Build a gun-bunker in the middle of a canyon, and building that enables you to build walls on either side seperately to fully seal off a canyon.

Neither of these are direct ideas for maps that I can think of, but more theoretical questions to see how flexible the scripting and building system is before I spend (possibly a lot of) time just to find out it’s impossible.

The best solution will be to create “butt-ugly” test maps and see for yourself. None of the constructions in ET had their construction type changed half way through construction stages but that does not mean its possible. If you want to create constructions based on other constructions it could be possible with scripting. The power of the construction system is in the scripting.
