It’s “mega” because they couldn’t think of a better name.
And it renders the entire visual area by brute force. No need for fog, etc.
Thanks for the answers for my question. But that wasn’t the thing I asked, I think. I already knew what megatexture is, but I wanted to know some details if they were told on the video. That decal thing is something that interested me, for example. But thanks anyway
well FinMJR, that’s exactly what they said on the video and who people has posted here.
The ‘give consent’ thing means the driver can give passengers control of (some?) weapons :).

why would anyone not want to give passengers weapon control ? They get more firepower this way… :???:
I’m curious to see how the megatexture looks when applied to sloppy surfaces, expecially after Carmack said:
Now, the game has been pushed to 2007, I wonder if they will have time / will be allowed to implement the new “rev of technology”?
here’s the google video version:

including the questions & answers. but the audio is bad, so it’s not easy to understand.
RogeR said on irc that it’s coming…but that was long ago :eek3:[/quote]
Agreed where is the Q&A ? I dont think we are missing much though, most people ask the same old dumb questions.
patience, the vidz are coming on planetquake.net:
In a few hours, expect to see the following videos available for download:
id Software Q&A Session
John Carmack’s keynote address
ET:QuakeWars Modding Workshop
I watched the whole Q&A thing on google video, even though I couldn’t make out anything that was said.
I think Nishua is referring to the Q&A at the end of the presentation, which get’s cut off in the PQ4 video. the id Software Q&A session listed above is a seperare one, though it also includes some ETQW info - a brief of it is here. note the slip about bots being worked on, though I’d assume for now their efforts are something of an exploratory excercise and they will only be included if they turn out well…
