Removing the surface lights but keeping the glow stage, and adding a switched light entity nearby should work.
And I asked our modelers a while ago to have separate light textures on their models for the surface light…
Now that gives a second problem:
I would need to know which color the light entity has to be, namely have the same color values Q3Map2 would calculate as average color of the lightImage.
Before I start to write such a tool, is there already one?
