Q3map 2.5.4 vs HL

(Browser [ICE]) #1

One question about the Half-Life compiling.

I heard that there is a special handeling procedure for when the HL compiler sees a NULL texture. It is handled in the same matter as the Q3 CAULK one (it removes the face). Also all non visible faces are removed.

Is this also the case in Q3MAP2 v2.5.4 ?

If so, then I guess I’m a fool ! Doh !

Please confirm !

Just use caulk. IIRC, the HL NULL texture was added to decrease compilation time and BSP complexity, basically taking the idea of caulk from Q3.

But is it a joke or is it true ?

Can Q3MAP2 v2.5.4 compile Q1, Q2 and HL maps ?

The more I think about it, the more I think it’s a joke.

Use Caulk in an HL map ? That would me creating a new texture and naming it CAULK.
